Chapter 5: In the Desert
I packed up my last t-shirt and zipped my bag. I'm in my room, packing up for the one week semester break for our movie project. I looked up to my alarm clock, to see the time.
7:59 a.m
Perfect. I still have time to take a bath and dress up pleasingly. Casey said she would pick us all up at nine o' clock.
I went inside the bathroom and took a nice soothing bath. After drying up, I went to my closet and grabbed a cute pink sun dress with matching doll shoes. I looked at the time again, still thirty minutes left to spare. I went to my dresser and heated my curler. While waiting for it get heated up, I applied some concealer, eye liner, and some lip gloss. I want to look simple yet appealing, and I want my look to match with the hot weather. After curling my hair lightly, I looked at the time again.
8:56 a.m
Four minutes left. I stood up and checked if I forgot something for the trip. Once I found everything complete, I grabbed by iPhone, trolley, and shoulder bag downstairs to wait for Cindy.
"Morning, Lin Lin!" my sister hugged once I plopped down on the living room sofa.
"Good morning, sport." I smiled at my sister's cheeky smile, and stroked her brown hair just like mine.
"I'm gonna miss you!" and she hugged me tighter.
"Gonna miss you too." My voice was like a whisper. I can't believe I'm not gonna be home for a week... I'll definitely miss the comfort my sister can only give me. She broke the hug and decided to sit on my lap.
After five minutes, I heard a honk on the horn of a car. It must be Casey. I put my sister gently on the sofa, since she fell asleep, and kissed her forehead. "See you in a week, sis." I went to the kitchen finding my mom sitting at the head of the dining table, busy with some business papers.
"Mom, I'll be leaving now." I called out to her.
"You have great time, honey." was her only response.
Me and my mom were not that really close, same goes to my dad. Both of them are workaholics and always are busy with running the family business to have no time for me and Amy. I've gotten used to it, since I was five. I went back inside the living room, grabbed my stuff, and went out.
I saw a red sports car parked in front of my house. Casey rolled the windows down, and beckoned me over to hurry up. I hopped in the backseat and found out that everybody was already here.
"So, let's get this show on the road!" Casey, born to party as her nature, declared and drove off going straight to the Sand Dunes where we shoot the first scene.
I looked to my side and saw Brody in the middle, listening to music while Damen at the left side, leaning his head on his arm, looking at the passing view. I looked at the front to see Eleanor snoozing.
I looked back at Damen who was really deep in thought.
Maybe I should forgive him already. It's no biggie for that prank anyway. Yeah, it was kind of childish for me to act like that. Right from the start, I knew he would never like a nobody nerd like me.
I leaned my head on the glass window at looked straight at the view. We were really silent and nobody wanted to have a conversation either.
--------
After like an eternity, we finally reached our destination.
The Sand Dunes.
We all unbuckled our seat belts and went out of the car. We were about to start unpacking the equipment we need when Casey spoke up.
"Wait, guys. Since we're in the Sand Dunes, why don't we have fun?" she was grinning wildly.
I sighed. Oh, boy. "Casey, why don't we finish up the acting first and then have some fun." I was getting tired and I want this to end immediately. I don't know how much I can hold any longer, staying awake.
She pouted. "Fine."
I smiled victoriously. We went straight to work and did the first scene, where Julie, the leading lady which is me, got her car a flat tire and here comes the tourist, Robert, the leading man, Damen; has come to the rescue then we worked on the scene where they both coincidentally booked the same hotel.
In order for the hotel scene, we also went to the hotel where we were gonna stay and filmed the act there. After 15 takes, we were finally done.
After packing up all equipment, we decided to eat and then enjoy sand surfing while the sun is still up.
"Lin, come with us to have some freakin' fun!" Casey was pulling me out of my hotel room to join them.
I have no choice but to join them.
Once we got there, Casey pulled out some boards at the back of the trunk which I did not know it was there the whole time. Eleanor who was being very bossy a while ago, grabbed a violet board and started climbing up the hill of sand. Brody too, took a board, gave me a pat on the back and followed her.
"You're not coming?" Casey was looking at me with a hint of disappointment in her voice.
I shook my head and smiled at her. She pouted, I laughed. "Go, I really suck at surfing and I would prefer see the sunset here."
"Okay." she gave me a small smile and turned to Damen, "How about you?"
Damen too, shook his head, indicating a no. Casey only laughed and joined the others who were surfing the sand like crazy.
Great, I'm now left alone with this guy. Just perfect.
I cleared my throat and looked at him, "So, about what happened two days ago, that was really nothing. I just have a bad day, that's all." I was talking, my voice gone all shaky and raspy just by looking to those emerald eyes that just makes me wanna swoon.
He smiled at me. "Hey, I know you were mad, and I understand that. What I did to you, was plane stupid. I know, I'm a jackass. And I'll say this again and again-" he took both of my hands that made all my cells in my body want to burst . "-I'm sorry Evalina Victorious Clermont. I was really a jerk back then." his voice was very soft and full of sincerity that made my heart ache to not forgive him.
"Damen Chase, of course I forgive you." he smiled and that made me smile too.
"Good, friends it is." he said with a huge smile across his face and I nodded with a goofy smile plastered on my face.
Together, we sit there on the sand, and watched the sun set.
That's it. It's official. I'm in love with the bad boy, and he only sees me as a friend. And for that..... I must steal the bad boy's heart.
