Chapter 6: By the Campfire Just Chillin' and Talking

"You are the sun that lights up my world." He swept me off my feet and into his arms.

"I've been waiting for you to say that." I smiled and looked at him full of warmth and longing.

"And I've been waiting for you to love me back." his voice was really intimidating, it made my heart beat so fast. He leaned in, our noses were touching and our lips were inches away from each other.

"CUT! Okay, perfect scene guys." I heard Casey shout.

We were at the beach near Brody's house shooting the scene where Julie and Robert confess their feelings for each other. I must say, Damen is a pretty good actor. He can really fake loving me, considering that I'm just his friend.

Friend.

Yesterday, he just said that we're now friends and bearing no ill will to each other. Well it's a good start. I mean, this can make my plan to steal his heart a little bit less tougher. I just need to get out of the friend zone.

"Might want to let go of my shirt now, not that I don't mind." his sudden intimidating voice snapped me back to reality. I just realized that I was still clutching his shirt, pulling him so close to me. I let go out of sheer embarrassment. "Sorry." I mumbled. I feel a light blush creeping up my cheeks.

He shrugged, "Nah, it's okay."

I looked down to the sand, not wanting him to see my red face.

"Hey guys! since we're done, let's bond!" I heard Casey shout over to where she was standing.

"Yeah! I mean we are at the beach." thank you, Eleanor for being the lousy bitch to agree.

I looked up to them to protest but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. I looked up to him, confused.

"Yeah, bonding sounds great." his smile was making my heart do somersaults in my chest.

"Y-yeah. Bonding is good." my voice sounded like I was in a trance. I can't resist him in either way.

Lin, think of this as an opportunity to flirt him.

My conscience was bringing me up to a wonderful idea. If only I can solo him with me.

"Hey, Lin! You coming?" I heard Brody shout out to me.

"Yeah, be there in a sec!" I dashed back to the place we were staying to get my kimono cardigan and speed walk towards the already built campfire. All of them were already there, chatting and laughing to whatever they were talking about.

"-then I said, Of course it's dangerous, it's a child of Arachne." I heard Brody talking and everybody burst into laughter.

I sit next to Damen who was also laughing.

"Hey, let's go swimming!" Eleanor suggested.

"But we didn't bring our swimsuits." Casey protested.

"What's the difference between underwear and a bikini?" Eleanor pulled in with the duh tone.

Casey shrugged and took of her clothes and went swimming in the icy water only wearing her underwear.

"I prefer skinny dipping." Eleanor smirked and took all of her clothes of... including her under garments. What a bitch! I wrinkled my nose, Brody looked (maniac), and thank the gods! Damen looked away.

Wait, the bad boy is looking away from a naked girl?! Well, that's a start.

Eleanor ran towards the direction where Casey is and plunged into the water.

"Eleanor is... wow!" Brody was unzipping his shorts and only with his boxers, went after both of the girls. The three of them splashed and played in the icy cold water.

"Hey, guys! You sure you don't wanna join?" I heard Eleanor say after a few moments of playing splash.

"Nah, I'll just sit here with Lin near the fire, where it's warm." I heard Damen respond.

"Kay!" and she continued to play with the others.

After a long silence, Damen spoke up.

"Good acting, Lin."

Good thing he can't see me blush, "Thanks, you too." I smiled shyly at him.

"You know, I never thought that we could be friends." he was smiling at me and I can't help but to smile back. "I mean, considering the first day that you just kicked my, you know, and then the cafeteria... I mean, just, wow!" he emphasized the word wow by raising both of his hands, imitating a mini explosion.

I nodded, "By the way, who told you my name." I was getting really curious as to how he knows my name.

"One time, at English, you were sitting at the far end of the row and then something about you just snapped me to full attention. You were reading a book and a small smile was plastered on your face and I just want to get to know you... for you to be my friend. That's why after class, I went to the teacher to ask what was your name." I remembered that day. It was the day that I got my Where She Went book by Gayle Forman. I didn't want to be disturb so I sit at the far end of the room where no one could ever disturb my. I never knew he was there at that day. Well, my plan on stealing his heart has just gotten way more easier.

"And then this-" I gestured at the two of us sitting next to each other "-has happened. We are now friends, as like what you wanted." I leaned over to his shoulder and he wrapped his arms around me. I feel safe and protected when he does that simple gesture to me.

"Damen?"

"hmmm?"

"I thought a bad boy was always an ass." he laughed at what I said and I smiled, exhaustion taking over me.

"Well, you have to know who the bad boy is in the inside." he whispered into my ear, his breath was warm.

"I'm cold." and after I said it, he wrapped his big and muscular arms around me, as I leaned onto his chest.

We watched the others play.

I never knew that a bad boy can be this nice and sweet.

And that was the last thought I remember before I fell asleep.
