Chapter 9
AN: Don't worry, this chapter should be pretty chill :) Enjoy the calm before the storm >:)Buttercup looked down at herself and grimaced as she was about to get out of the car. "Go get us a table. I'll be inside in a second." Bubbles nodded and all but skipped into the restaurant. She smiled brightly at the familiar hostess.
"Hey Robyn! Table for two please!" The brunette woman pulled out two menus and smiled to the youngest puff.
"So is it another date with Boomer, or are you and Blossom having brunch?" The blonde woman smiled bigger than she really had in a long while.
"Better! I'm catching up with Buttercup!" The long term friend of the girls froze and almost dropped the menus at the mention of the middle sister.
"Buttercup? I- You guys- I thought she was dead!" Bubbles had almost forgotten about her sister's faked death.
"I did too, but she faked her death and ran away. Now she's so pretty, she's loaded, and has a daughter that looks just like her!" At the mention of a kid, the hostess's jaw dropped.
"No way! She has a kid? I have to see her! I'll get you your table. I'll catch up when she gets here." Robyn led her friend to a small booth. The same one they had always sat in.
The blue puff didn't have to wait too long on her sister since she walked in no even a minute later in a completely different outfit than before and didn't look like she just got out of prison.
She had on a loose, low cut lilac sweater that revealed the top of her black bralette, a pair of black leggings, and her white superstars. Bubbles looked down at her sky blue t-shirt and black yoga pants, feeling a little underdressed.
Buttercup sat down across from Bubbles, a sheepish smile on her face.
"Sorry I felt gross from being stuck in a stupid chair for a day. Do you still always get the blueberry pancakes?" The blue eyed sister grinned and nodded rapidly. The older of the two allowed an amused smirk and didn't even bother looking at the menu.
"I guess I'll get my old usual then." Before Bubbles could respond, Robyn came back as promised.
"Oh, hey Schneider." Buttercup casually greeted her childhood friend as she always had before. The brunette's jaw dropped and she blinked a few times.
"Buttercup? How the hell have you been? I heard you have a kid? Damn girl you look amazing!" The newly returned puff had almost forgotten how talkative the girl could be and wasn't really prepared for the onslaught of questions.
"Wait, what's your job? What's new since we last talked? Who's kid is it? Can I see a picture?" The overwhelmed woman held up a hand to stop her friend.
"Hold on. Yes, I have a kid, I'm not supposed to say where I work, I've really only dyed my hair and got a few piercings and tats, and she's Butch's." With the last part, she looked away slightly and blushed, which didn't escape her friend.
"Oh my gosh! You're blushing! That's so cute! Show me a picture!" Buttercup glared lightly at the talkative girl, but pulled out her phone and showed her a selfie of her and Rika from two weeks before.
"She's turning five at the end of this month." The hostess squealed in excitement.
"Oh my god that's so adorable! Please say you guys are staying here for good!" The woman in question dropped her proud smile and got up.
"Excuse me for a minute." Bubbles stood up with her, but decided to let her have some time alone. Robyn looked to the remaining sister for an explanation.
"Was it something I said?" The blonde frowned towards the door where her sister walked out of.
"Rika wants to stay with us for good instead of going back home with Buttercup... She... hasn't been taking it too well." She remembered the sight of her sister trashed at the bar, almost getting herself killed.
The brunette's confused expression dropped and turned into a heartbroken one.
"No... She can't do that to her mom. She's taken care of her for her whole life so far!" Robyn's upset tone transformed into a slightly angry one. Bubbles kept her sad eyes locked on the door.
"She's four and probably doesn't even know how much she's hurting her. I just don't know how to go about explaining it so that she won't get upset or confused." The hostess was about to respond, but the door opened and Buttercup walked back in, a blank look on her face. She made her way back over to the table and sat down.
"I have about two hours before I have to be at court." The older sister stated, ignoring the former topic. Robyn looked at her old friend in confusion.
"Court for what?" She ran her left hand through her blonde hair.
"I might be in a little bit of trouble with the government..." The blue eyed brunette blinked in shock.
"I always made jokes about you being the problem child, but I never thought you'd do anything that bad... What'd you do?" She gave an innocent smile and looked to the side.
"Nothing wrong! My boss is trying to say I did something that I didn't. It's not really that important." The puffs' friend looked at her skeptically, but decided to let it go.
"Okay... Bubbles, I'll get you your usual. Buttercup, what do you want?" The woman in question smiled like a child on Christmas as she ordered.
"Chocolate Chip pancakes!" The other two girls giggled at her excitement.
"Okay, I'll be right out with those." Once Robyn left the table, Bubbles spoke up.
"Hey Buttercup, I was wondering..." Buttercup looked up to meet her sister's eyes.
"Yeah, what's up Bubs?" The blue sister looked to her sister's pierced ear.
"How many tattoos and piercings do you have?" Her eyes brightened and she pulled back her hair.
"I have ten piercings on my right ear and my agent X tattoo behind it, eight in my left ear, three forward helix, two cartridge, and three normal, I have another tat behind this ear that I actually got for you guys," she moved her ear to show a tattoo of a flower with bubbles around it, "I have our zodiac constellation on my wrist and the Moon cycle on my back." She pulled up her sleeve to reveal an Aries constellation. Bubbles's jaw dropped in shock. She knew her sister had so many.
"Now tell me about yourself. I see a ring, but I don't have a story behind it." Buttercup smiled up at her sister, eagerly waiting for a story on how she got married. The younger sister blushed lightly, but soon went into her story.
"Well I started dating Boomer about a month after you left. He gave me one of those cheesy notes that said, 'I like you a lot, will you go out with me?', with the two check boxes. At first I saw him as a shoulder to cry on, but I found that he was actually really good to me. It wasn't too long until I came to the conclusion that I actually loved him. It was on our four year anniversary when he proposed. It was perfect Buttercup! In the middle of class he passed me the same note, but he crossed out 'go out with' and wrote 'marry' over it! When I looked up, he was on one knee with the prettiest ring I had ever seen in my life!" The older sister smiled big, happy for her little sister.
"Bubbles that's great! I'm so happy for you! When did you guys actually get married?" The younger woman smiled bigger if possible.
"We actually got married two months ago! Buttercup I'm so happy!" Both sisters were genuinely smiling.
"Awh, Bubbles I'm so happy for you!" The woman across the table grinned mischievously.
"You know what that means, Buttercup! You need to get married too!" She flinched at the suggestion and looked away slightly, her happy mood forgotten.
"Bubs I can't get married..." the blue puff looked at her sister in confusion.
"Um, why not?" She laughed bitterly and looked back up to her sister.
"Who the hell would want to marry a single mom who works as a spy? I would have to keep so many secrets and nobody wants that." Bubbles went quiet and looked at her sister's downcast expression in guilt.
"Buttercup... maybe you can see if Butch-" the green puff snapped her head towards her sister, a heartbroken look in her eyes that she was obviously trying to hide.
"Dammit Bubbles! He hates me! I've apologized to him three times and he hasn't listened to one of them!" She was very obviously holding back tears. "I just wish I could make it up to him..." Buttercup whimpered the last part and looked away from her younger sister. Bubbles scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Buttercup, you're so blind it hurts. He's the one who took care of you when you almost drank yourself to death. He's the one who got your boss arrested. He's the one who made sure you had a trial. He's the one who literally hasn't touched another girl since you left. Yeah he was probably a little upset with you, but he's in love with you!" The upset woman looked up in shock and hope.
"He loves me?" The blue eyed woman nodded as if it should've been obvious. A small, but genuine smile replaced the green puff's frown. The small smile got even bigger at the sight of their food coming out.
"Okay. Chocolate chip pancakes and blueberry pancakes. Enjoy guys and great to finally see you again BC." Buttercup smirked to her old friend.
"Same to you Schneider."
The two sisters were quiet as they ate their food, happy to finally be back together after so long.AN: Awh a reunion of sorts! Buttercup is finally rebonding with the people from her past! Stay tuned to find out what happens in court!
