Trystan
So it's been a little less than a day and I've found out my mom is a war god, I'm a demigod, I'm part of a prophecy that could make or break the world, and on top of that I don't even know what the actual prophecy is. At least I have Reyna to rely on helping me get ahold of myself for now. They'd just got done talking about how he would be exempt from weapon combat training once in a while so she could give her own lessons to Trystan, when Frank walked in the principa with his breastplate he wore earlier gone and a grey "I love Alberta" hat on. "So how's preparing your new brother for the world changing prophecy going Reyna?" He asked casually. "He's freaking out enough as is can you not add to it?" She asked glancing at him across the table. He stopped grinning "Have you even told him the actual prophecy?" He asked taking a seat with them. She looked at him and sighed "I didn't want to tell him on the second day of him being here I'm sorry Frank." She said sarcastically. "He deserves to know it if he is apart of it" he said matching her dead serious look. Trystan looked at the two arguing in front of him. "Reyna you don't need to be protective of me, you told me already a prophecy will only pertain to those who are in the prophecy itself so I'll be on my own anyway you won't be there if I'm in danger. Frank is right, I should know." He said more commanding then he meant to. Reyna stared at him for a second, he waited for her to get angry at him. Instead she weakly smiled "I'm sorry if I came off as overprotective. It's just that family is the most important thing to me and everyone at this camp is my family, but you especially." She said. "Reyna..." Frank said putting his hand on her shoulder. "It's fine Frank I'm alright. Just tell him the full prophecy you heard from Ella." she said brushing his hand off her. He nodded and looked at Trystan "listen carefully, you may need to remember this by heart ok?" Frank said waiting for his confirmation. Trystan paused, he had the long term memory of a acorn. Reluctantly he nodded back. "Alright Ella mentioned a prophecy along the lines of this 'The son of the war goddess will step forth to unite four demigods To reverse an ancient curse and Prevent times corruption with its own destruction As war takes shape where the last battle took place Order or Chaos the four will fall.' and she said something about the rest being burnt before she even memorized the prophecy." Frank said sighing. Reyna looked at Trystan waiting for any reaction from him. He stared blankly for a few seconds before he shook himself "That's very specific isn't it?" He chuckled half heartedly. Reyna spun the torch and spear ring, that represented their mom on her finger. Frank spoke before her "Trystan ... listen it's ok to be scared just a few years ago I was apart of a prophecy similar to yours and I was constantly afraid if I failed or got my friends hurt. Anyone who's gone on a quest has felt the way you do now, it's normal." He said with his smile back. "Frank's right it's never easy to see the task at hand from the base, but when your halfway through it may still feel difficult as Pluto but you know you'll make it to the end." She said looking at him clutching her ring now. He sat in silence for a moment from the overwhelming encouragement. "Thanks guys, but I'm not sure if I could be a leader for anything let alone uniting demigods to band together." He said looking to Reyna then Frank. Frank and Reyna shared a look and silently agreed. "Ok Trystan we'll not worry the prophecy, we'll just focus on the training mom wanted for you and the fates shall handle the rest alright?" She asked waiting for his response. "Fate is personified too? You know what never mind, sure without the stress on my mind I won't feel rushed anyway." He agreed. "Great we'll start tonight after aerial capture the flag!" She said excitedly. "Ya know after your classes and dinner, sorry Reyna but he's still a probatio for now." Frank said getting up. She sighed and put her head down on the table. "Rest up I'll take him to his classes ok?" Frank said opening up the door and motioning for Trystan to follow. She silently gave a thumbs up and continued to mope. He followed frank out the door. "So what'll be your 2nd class be Trystan?" Frank asked leading the way. "Uhh hold on" he replied digging around in his pockets for the paper Reyna gave him early in the morning. He finally found the lavender colored paper and looked for his second class. "Well it says beginner eagle riding at eleven." He said scratching his head "isn't it past eleven?" "You'll be about half an hour late but you still can make it for the other hour and a half, come on it's this way." Frank said changing directions. He followed in silence for a couple minutes. "You know that's the happiest she's been in a while, well shown anyway." Frank said without turning to him. "Who?" Trystan asked. "Reyna, she's been a lot happier since you got here." He answered. "She use to be a lot more strict, well I mean she's never been a bad person or praetor but she never relaxed even though I take some of the load of work off her shoulders." He admitted turning a corner. "Why is that? I mean why did she change because of me being here?" Trystan asked turning the corner as well. "I know you don't know but children of Bellona are extremely rare, your mom is very specific on who she chooses to have kids with. So specific in fact you, Reyna, and Hylla are the first descendants of Bellona we know of for a century." He said. "Sounds like she is a tad picky with who she loves." Trystan said trying to hide his understanding of what Lupa had said now. Frank laughed "Ya I guess she is. Speaking of which though, may I ask has your father been in the military?" He asked.
"...Ya how'd you know?" Trystan asked a little defensively. "War gods tend to have children tend to have children with people in the military. So what was he? An officer, MP, field commander?" Frank asked. Trystan's face seemed to cringe as he realized the striking difference between his mother's taste and from the other war gods."Well ... he was a combat medic." He answered slowly. Frank stopped and turned to him and with and utterly dumbfounded look. "I'm sorry, but did you say a medic and not some front line war hero or something" he asked. "He was a combat medic, I don't know what you want me to tell you." He replied. "This is actually surprising I'm sorry if I sound rude but I've never seen a war god have a kid with someone who wasn't in the heat of battle for a majority of their time. Please if you ever get a chance to talk with Bellona ask her about how she met your dad." Frank replied. "Will do if I don't screw up the world like the prophecy said." He replied rather coldly. Frank paused "You're really scared aren't you?" He asked softly. "What do you think? I've been here not even a full day and I'm apparently apart of this world changing prophecy, I learned my mom who I thought died after I was born is actually a war goddess, and on top of all that gods know how the other camps are taking the attacks at the peace conference!" He yelled out of breath. "Frank looked at him and waited for his breath to return to normal. "I can't tell you everything will be ok, I can't tell you there won't be death, it is part of demigod life, but I can tell you that Bellona, Reyna, and obviously the fates see something in you that you can't see in yourself yet but you will and when you do you will see this moment as a moment you can laugh about with your friends." He said turning to continue their path to find Trystan's class. Trystan stood in place thinking about what he said for a few seconds before he started to follow Frank again. They stopped at a abnormally large stable where a large group was gathered inside. "Looks like their starting, hurry inside and we'll see you for the games later." Frank said waving and walking away. Trystan faced the group inside and sighed" I hope this won't be like first day of a new school year type of thing." He muttered as he walked in.
