"Getting my first sonogram done while holding hands with you is not part of my bucket list." I mentioned with a brief chuckle.
She smiled, holding out a vanilla ice cream cone. I received it and we continued walking on the side of the street with our sunglasses on and out hats low. Freya is a public figure and is constantly stalked by paparazzi. We are trying to blend in as much as possible.
"Like I said, I'm here for you. But do tell me something, how did it feel when you saw the baby?"
"Seeing the baby move inside me and listening to the heart beat made me realize that it's real. This is real. I'm going to be a mom Freya."
In our sessions, Freya has been teaching me acceptance. She's helping me deal with the pregnancy and what happ that night at the conservatory. Admitting that I am going to be a mom is hard enough to say. I actually wonder if I will even make it through the first day.
"I'm happy for you." She spoke with a slight smile.
We got into the back of her chauffeured car and we sat in silence.
"Is everything all right?" She asked me.
I wonder if I should tell her about the two Russian men at the club. I still see Ivan around but not the scary one with blue eyes.
"Some problems at work."
"Do you want to talk about them?"
"It's just some guy who has made me an offer."
The chauffeur eased the car away. "What kind of an offer did he make you?"
"He wants me to dance for him at his club."
"Dance? What kind of dance?"
"Obviously the kind where I take off my clothes. He said I will make more money."
"Are you considering it?"
I played with my fingers. I'm pregnant. Babies must cost money. How will I support myself and the baby if I don't start saving up?
"It crossed my mind for a moment."
"And you decided against it, right?" She took my hand. My lack of response puzzled her. "Naila?"
"It's Lyn. Practice that." I pulled my hand out of hers. "Babies cost money Freya. I dint think I'll be able to work after I have the baby. I need to save up."
"I offered you assistance and I'll keep offering it. Don't take off your clothes for money. It will change you."
"In what way? I'm already tainted. I'm already dark. How worse can I possibly get?"
"Much worse. I'm not looking down on the women who do such things but do you want men throwing money at you and being inappropriate with you?"
"It's not any different from being a trophy wife. It's just that the latter is sophisticated. But either way, I need to make money. The little tips won't cut it anymore."
"Why won't you go back to your father? He will-"
"Shun me. Do you really know Wayne Bellingerre?"
"Tony?"
"I can't face Tony." Although he will prob help me.
"Cole loves you. He will accept it."
"Is it fair to him though? Can we just talk about something else?"
She paused in silence.
"Tomorrow is mothers day."
"Now that we are playing mom and daughter, do we get to wear matching dresses tomorrow?" I asked her.
