Teresa looked up at the sky. Even though it had to be late afternoon, the sun was still blazing. Teresa squinted her eyes, quickly ducking.

Sonya was walking in front of Teresa. Sonya had insisted that she lead as Teresa was the one who had to be safe. Teresa had disagreed, saying that Sonya's life was just as important. She had tried her best to protest, to no avail. Sonya shushed her and moved to her front. Not being able to do anything, Teresa had simply followed her with the pistol in her hand raised high.

They searched around for about an hour, Teresa trying to find some connection to her or Ava Paige. Teresa sighed, dropping down on her knees.

"We are never gonna find a way out.", Teresa said, sadly.

"Hey.. Don't give up.", Sonya said, "We can still search tomorrow."

Sonya squatted on the ground, next to Teresa. She looked at Teresa, a small smile plastered on her face. Teresa fake-smiled back.

"Look, on the bright side, we haven't come across any cranks.", Sonya laughed, Teresa laughing with her.

As if on cue, they heard a growl. The smile from both their faces vanished, Sonya closing her eyes while Teresa looked fed up.

"Spoke too soon.", Teresa said, getting up, immediately. Sonya got up, too. They turned towards the source of the sound, a bloodied crank snarling at them.

"Just one.", Sonya scoffed, "This is going to be easy.", aiming the gun at the crank.

Suddenly, the crank squealed, the sound awakening more cranks. More low growls filled the air as Sonya looked around.

"Spoke too soon, again.", Teresa said to her.

"They're everywhere.", Sonya exclaimed. She raised her gun, shooting the one that had started running towards them.

"There won't be enough bullets.", Sonya shouted, shooting the cranks. Gun shots echoed, along with the yelps of the fallen cranks.

Teresa turned around, putting a bullet through the head of a crank that got too close. The blood spurted onto her T-Shirt.

"Eww...Eww.", She exclaimed, in disgust.

"This way", Teresa looked around and said to Sonya, and they both ran, Teresa shooting anything that got in their way, while Sonya ran with her back to Teresa, gunning down all the zombie-ish cranks coming at them.

They cut through an alley, running from the cranks, trying to devise an escape plan.

"We lost them.", Sonya panted for breath.

"Not for long", Teresa looked at her.

They stopped abruptly, looking at the wall standing high in front of them.

"Shit. It's a dead end.", Sonya said, panicking.

Teresa looked around, "In there.", She pointed to a store with its door open to their left.

"What? We won't be able to get out. What if there are cranks in there?", Sonya looked at Teresa, like Teresa was crazy.

"We'll hide, alright. If there are cranks inside, we kill them. And we'll leave once it's safe to go.", Teresa said, looking behind Sonya, checking for cranks. She moved to the store, "Come on.", Teresa said to her.

"This is crazy.", Sonya shrugged, shaking in fear.

"Do you have a better plan?", Teresa spoke loud, before running into the store.

"I'm going to regret this.", Sonya sighed, before following Teresa into the store.

They went in, locking the door behind them.
