Chapter 3- One of the good things

I blinked and then Ben was gone, the static feeling ceased and the air shifted again. I walked back through the woods to the base. I walked into the command center. 

"Rey!" Finn said across the room. 

"Ya?" I asked. 

"we've been looking all over for you!"

"Is everything okay?" I asked concerned. 

"Leia wants to debrief from what happened on Crait" I followed him into a circular conference room with a handful of people sitting around a center console. 

"Rey! Over here!" Leia said. Everyone starts to sit down and I take the seat next to Leia. Leia then went over with the group what we had left, what allies we still have contact with and what are next steps are. After her speech she dismissed the group except for Finn, Poe, Chewie, and BB-8. "Rey, we need you to tell us what happened when you went to see Luke, and everything that happened after" Leia said. I then started to talk about my training on Ach-to and then going to Snoke's ship to meet Ben. 

"Wait! Why would you just out of no where surrender yourself to Kylo Ren?" Finn stood up, very confused and looking a bit upset. I realized that I left out the force bond when telling my story. They just seemed to intimate to mention... I decided to play it safe and not tell them. 

" I knew there was light in him, I thought if I went to him in person I could get Ben Solo back" I said. Leia smiled at me, she saw the light in him too. 

"How did you know there was light in the monster that kidnapped you, tortured you, and almost killed me trying to protect you!" Finn yelled clearly mad. I look down at my lap and pull at the end of my shirt, I didn't want to re-live those moments. 

"I just knew" I said 

"So what happened when you got there?" Leia said, clearly wanting to find out what happened with her son. 

"He took me to Snoke and..." tears welled up in my eyes, Snoke had caused me so much pain I felt my body ache just thinking about it. Leia grabbed my hand and looked at me with her loving eyes. I cleared my throat and kept going "Snoke invaded my mind and lifted me up into the air, the pain was unbearable. Then I was put on my Knees in front of Ben and Snoke told him to kill me"

" How did you get away?!" Finn asked 

"Because then Ben killed Snoke". Everyone in the room wore faces of shock, almost like they didn't believe me but I knew they did. 

"Kylo Ren killed Snoke, his master, to save you?" Poe was dumbfounded 

"Yes" 

"What happened after that?" Leia asked, probably wondering why her son wasn't standing here with us now. 

"We fought all of Snoke's guards together, that is how I cut my shoulder. Then we argued on who should turn to what side and the lightsaber split in half. Then we went our separate ways." That was mostly the truth. I just left out the conversation we had before we fought over the lightsaber, where he asked me to rule the galaxy by his side. 

"Is Ben okay?" Leia asked

"Yes he is okay" I thought back to the forest earlier this afternoon. Leia let out a sigh of relief and dismissed the group, I went back to my room. I was tired, the grey walls reflected my mood. I placed my staff against the wall and laid down on the bed. I slowly drifted off to sleep...

*dreaming*

* echoes bounced in my head as images of fire, death, and blasters filled my mind. "So alone" repeated over an over. Peoples screams of horror. Explosions. Snoke reading my mind. Then darkness*

I awoke from the nightmare with a jolt. I could feel warm tears on my cheeks. When my eyes focused I saw Ben, I sat up suprised. He was standing at the foot of my bed, he looked concerned. Feeling slightly embarrassed that he saw me cry in my sleep I wiped my tears away. "How long have you been there?" I asked. 

"Not long" He said, still looking concerned. "What was your nightmare about?" His eyes were deep and caring. 

"Just a blur of bad things that have happened to me". 

"I must be one of those bad things" He looked down at his feet.

"No, you're one of the good things"

Ben quickly looked back up, surprised to hear me say that. His eyes searched my face. He walked over and sat on the end of the bed "I'll sit here while you fall back asleep, you won't be alone".  A tear rolled down my cheek, he cared about me. He leaned over and wiped the tear away with his thumb and looked me in the eyes. "Try to get some sleep". I laid back down and closed my eyes and fell asleep, and  at some point Ben vanished back to his reality.
