"You wrote that you didn't want to see me again!" I said.

"I know, I thought it was for the best. Until-"

"Until what?" I cut him off.

"Until I found out that I can't stay away from you." Nathan leans over and touches my cheek with his fingertips. I feel a slight sting, but it goes away quickly. I feel tired again, and my eyelids flutter.

"Wait, I-I, what?" I can barely keep my thoughts straight anymore.

"You're going, Reese. You might not remember this when you wake up."

No! I want to hold on to this, I need to! I fight against the darkness with all my strength and force my eyes wide open. I feel something switch inside me, like a light bulb.

"No," I firmly say. I grab his hand from my face and pull hard, forcing Nathan to stand. He almost falls, but anchors himself on the edge of the bed with his hands, half crouching in front of me. I grab onto the back of his neck and pull him to me, kissing his lips. He is a bit startled at first, but then begins moving his lips in sync with mine. I lurch backwards.

"No! Someone will walk in or something!"

Nathan has a dazed look on his face. "Huh? Oh! No!" He stands up and runs to the door. Clicking the lock, he turns back to me.

"Where were we?" He asks with a cocky grin on his face. I send him one back. Just as he starts leaning toward me again, my mother knocks on the door.

"Reese? The nurse is here to give you the rest of the solution!" She yells through the door.

"Ma'am, I'm going to have to ask you to keep your voice down, we are in a hospital," I hear the nurse's muffled voice. Nathan jogs over to the door with a forlorn look on his face. When he opens it, Anna tumbles into the floor, obviously eavesdropping. A pinkish blush covers her cheeks as she picks herself up. She runs over and gives me a hug.

"Ow!" I yell, pulling back.

"What is it?" My mother asks, rushing over to my side.

The nurse answers for me. "She is gaining electrons quickly and she doesn't need to be touched by a positive. She's returning to normal and she needs to be treated normally." She looks down at the orange cup in her hand. "I guess you won't be needing this anymore. I'll call the doctor and see if it will be possible to discharge you early. You seem to be recovering faster than normal." Then, with a last curious glance, the nurse left the room.

"You shocked me," I mumbled.

"Sorry," Anna says with a sheepish look on her face.

"Are you okay?" Nathan says, walking over to me. He reaches for my hand, but pulls away at the last second, remembering.

"Yeah," I say.

An hour later, the nurse discharges me and Nathan and I walk ahead of everyone to my mothers car.

"Who drove you here, don't you need to get back home?" I ask him.

"Nobody, it's a long story. Maybe I'll tell you one day."

I roll my eyes and Nathan grins. We get to the car and I turn to him. He leans in for a second, as if he was going to kiss my cheek, but stops himself. Instead, he takes a step back and blows me a kiss. I laugh and wave goodbye to him as Anna leaps into the car and my mother drives us home.
