I open the door to my house quietly, trying not to wake my mom. I'm about to open my bedroom door when-

"Where have you been?" my mother whispers from behind me. I turn around to face her.

"I had dinner at Nathan's house and we lost track of time, sorry." I give her a sheepish grin.

She frowns. "Just don't let it happen again."

I let out a sigh and enter my bedroom. I think of the events of the day as I start changing into my pajamas. I'm just about to pull my shirt over my head when I hear a voice.

"Woah, woah, I'm in here!" a hushed voice frantically says. I bite back a scream and spin around. Nathan is standing in the middle of my room.

"What the hell?! Why are you in my room?" I whisper-scream.

"I had to make sure you got home okay after that stunt you pulled. I do care about you, you know."

"But you don't, you don't care enough about me to try and fix this!" I say, waving my hand between us.

He runs his hand through his hair. "I've been thinking about that, too." He takes a deep breath. "I decided that I do want to fix it. But there are conditions, such as we have to stop if you feel like you're going to pass out. I don't want you to kill yourself over this."

I smile and walk over to him. "I promise, Nathan."

"Okay," he sits on my bed. "how are we going to do this?"

I sit next to Nathan and take off my leather gloves, and he does the same. I hold my hands up. He puts his up also and starts moving them closer to mine. Some little sparks jump from our hands, gracefully arching between us. As his hands move closer, a lightning bolt snaps from my right hand to his. My eyelids flutter but I force them open.

"Reese? Are you okay? You promised you would tell me!" Nathan panics. I know he wants to stop, and I can't let that happen yet. I grab the back of his head and kiss him hard.

The strength flows out of me so fast, I almost fall to the floor. Instead, I push him down on the bed and fall on top of him, keeping our lips attached. Nathan tries to push me off, but I fight back, holding his hands down on the bed. Nausea sweeps over me and I bite his lip hard. He rips his hands out of my grasp and slowly pushes me away. We sit up and he rubs his lip.

"Ouch. Bloodthirsty, are you?" He jokes.

"I'm sorry," I say, barely keeping my eyes open. I force myself to sit up straight and not show how tired I feel.

"It's okay. I think I'd better get home now, my mom will worry. Goodnight Reese."

"Goodnight, Nathan." I whisper as he climbs out of my window. I shut it behind him as I watch him jog across my yard and disappear into the woods. I yawn and crawl into my bed, already dreaming of him.
