( REAL LIFE! )
( SEVENTY ONE! )

THE BOY WAS SO frazzled he could barley even speak. The lipstick stain on his cheek seemed to stick out like a sore thumb, making his skin crawl, "Myra... you know I don't—"

" I know you don't like me that way, Eddie." She replied, still looking at him. Her gaze perinced his soul in some weird way and made him feel nauseous.

"Then why the hell did you—"

"I want," She said slowly, breathing in, "I want to say goodbye."

"Cause I do like you." She looked at him and smiled, "And I made a lot of mistakes when we were dating, and I take responsibility for them. And I want to think I've matured from that, but I really haven't. I see myself still wanting to control you and want to isolate you again, and you really don't deserve that, because it's awful and horrible."

The girl took a pause in her breath, "It's not like I can control it, it's just my personality, and... I think you deserve better. There's someone way more comparable for you out there, and I really want you to find her."

"Myra—"

"You deserve to be happier, Eddie." She smiled in a motherly way, as if everything between this was normal. Eddie's heart was beating so fast he could feel it pounding in his brain, "Happier then this."

The quiet between the two teenagers was absolutely beautiful. A lovely white fence and a hard concrete ground lined from where they walked, and yet neither was focused on it.

The Kaspbrak was trying to slow his rapid breathing, trying to stop imaging all the gross germs on his cheek because of that kiss. Myra was staring solemnly at in front of them as she walked, a smile on her face. Eddie had wondered for years what was making her smile so much.

When they got to the store, Myra smiling smugly like it was her birthday and Eddie resisting the urge not to cry, the awkwardness between them had dissolved.

Myra pulled the boy into a hug, a very tight and very loving hug, before whispering into his ear, "Goodbye, Eddie."

And then she left the market, leaving Eddie blank faced, confused and alone.

And that was the last time Eddie ever saw ever saw Myra, and for that, perhaps it was the best choice she had ever made.
