"So what was up with you and Ashton today? I could sense some tension" Sydney asked keeping her eyes on the road as we drove to Ashton's house. He decided to hitch a ride with Calum and let us drive his car after school to his house. Wow he must be pretty upset.
"You have no idea" I mumbled turning up to radio only to have it turned back down.
"What was that?" she asked smugly.
"I said I don't know what you're talking about"
"Oh whatever!" she exclaimed "I saw the way he was looking at you today, something happened...and is that his hoodie?"
I sighed. "Nothing happened, its just after he started tickling me and you left we may have almost kissed." I said biting my lip causing Sydney to slam on her brakes.
"Syd! What the actual heck are you trying to kill me?" I said and as if on cue a line of cars blew their horns
"Sorry" she said laughing "But seriously, dude, tell.me.everything."
I sighed again and rolled my eyes "Okay fine but seriously nothing happened. So we were on the bed and-"
"Oo la la!" Sydney interrupted and I glared at her. "Oops sorry"
"Anyway we were on the bed and he was tickling me and somehow he ended up on top of me and we both just stopped everything and stared at each other. Have you ever noticed how his eyes are just the right shade of hazel?" I said completely forgetting what I was supposed to be saying. "Or how his dimples pop when he smiles or how-"
"Mack"
"Oh yeah" I blushed "He started to lean in and then surprisingly I started to lean in too" I said and Sydney smiled really wide. "Then our lips brushed"
"And?"
"And then he ran away" I said scooting down in my seat.
"What? Talk about mood killer" she huffed.
"Yeah so now he's mad at me and like I didn't even do anything" I vented "I mean he is the one that came on to me first!"
"Are you sure he was the one to pull away?" Sydney asked "Because I thought we was practically in lo- nevermind"
"Wait what? And yeah I'm sure it was him" I replied annoyed.
"Nothing it just doesn't make sense" she mumbled under her breath as we pulled into Ashton's driveway. We both got out of the car and walked into his house.
"Hello, Mackenzie, Sydney" Ash's mom said giving me a hug.
"Hi, Ms. Ash's mom" I replied smiling.
"When are you gonna start calling me Anne? I've practically known you two all of your lives" she chuckled referring to my name for her. You see whenever I first met Ashton his father wasn't around and I didn't think calling her Mrs. Irwin was appropriate because I thought it'd be weird. Don't judge me I was six, and now it just kind of stuck.
"I'll start when you stop calling me by my full name" I laughed before we went into silence.
"Yeah um, where's Ashton?" Sydney asked smiling.
"The guys are downstairs in the basement" she said and we nodded heading in that direction. We made our way downstairs and all the guys were staring at us like they were waiting for our arrival.
"Well hello" I said awkwardly and Sydney just flirtatiously smiled.
"Woah" Calum said "They're even hotter than I remember" I blushed and Sydney continued to smile. I was mentally slapping her and it looked like Ashton was doing to same to Calum judging by the way he was glaring at him. Calum didn't seem to care because he dropped a wink in our direction.
"Okay let's start rehearsal"Ashton grumbled moving to go sit behind his drums. Sydney and I sat on an old raggedy blue couch across from where they were practicing.
Countless covers later Luke spoke up and said "Okay so we're about to do an original song its called Heartbr-"
"Actually can we take a break?" Ashton asked and the guys just shrugged.
"Yeah that'd be great, and it'd actually give me more time to talk to your beautiful friends." Calum said walking over to us but was stopped by Ashton grabbing his shirt
"Down boy" he said and Calum sighed.
"Fine" he said flopping down on the ground.
"Uh I'm actually gonna go get some food....you guys want anything?" They all just looked at me quietly. "Well alright then" I mumbled standing up.
"I'll come with" Michael smiled warmly.
"Okie dokie!" I chirped walking up the stairs being followed by Michael. We walked in the kitchen and I began searching through the cabinets.
"So you and Ashton, huh?" Michael asked smirking leaning against the bar catching me off guard.
"What? No!" I laughed "What made you think that?"
"Well I mean you guys are always hanging around each other, and you're wearing his hoodie so I guess we all just kinda assumed especially because he's all protective over you" he shrugged and I looked down at the hoodie forgetting once again I was wearing it, it was just too comfortable.
"Frick, I actually forgot I was wearing this" I said tugging on the hoodie "But no we aren't a thing, we're just really good friends." I smiled. "Well I hope we still are" I whispered almost inaudibly
"So you don't have any feelings for each other?" he asked and I sighed.
"Yep, no feelings" I admitted pushing away the butterflies that I got in my stomach when Ashton leaned in to connect our lips, which didn't happen.
"Good" he winked "And Ashton sure doesn't know what he's missing" he said causing me to blush. "No, I'm serious. You're funny, sweet, awkward, and not to mention beautiful" he said making me blush harder.
"Michael-"
"I'm serious, and to show you I am, how would you like to grab a slice of pizza with me some time?" he asked and I nodded.
"I'd love that" I chirped walking over to the table and grabbing a pen before walking back over to Michael and writing my number on his arm. "Call me"
"Trust me, I will" he winked as we headed back down the stairs. When we reached the bottom everyone was staring at us just like when I first got here with Sydney.
"Where's the food?" Luke asked
"Uh, we ate it" Michael smiled and turned to face me. I nodded as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and I looked up into his eyes.
