Alex never got sick, that was the cold hard truth. What Alex did have a tendency to wake up with was (what felt like) non-stop panic attacks, especially if not only when it was storming outside.
When that happened, he would usually (god forbid) cry for a while, whispering words of solace and silently debating with the annoying little Burr in his head. Occasionally that would be enough to calm him, winning against him in a battle of wits.
The first time Laurens was present for one of Alex's panic attacks, accidentally falling asleep in his bed after attempting to get his boyfriend to sleep, he had been terrified. What was going on? Why was Alex crying?
That night had been a night of firsts.
It was the first time Alex had cried in front of someone since his mother's death.
It was the first time Laurens had comforted Alex so late into the night.
It was the first time that they both realized that, as long as they were both there, the past (and raging thunder storms) couldn't touch either of them.

Hamilton Drabbles
Historical FictionYeah, you don't have to, but the first part (book) to this had 111 chapters. This is exactly what the title says, and I don't own Hamilton.
