A Girl and her Alley Chat

Chapter 2

~MARI'S HOUSE~

MARI'S POV:

Marinette was sitting on her pink chaise working on some sketches for a design. She was a little distracted though. She couldn't stop thinking about Nathaniel.

"Tikki, Do you think Nath is mad at me because I tricked him when he was Evilastrator?" Mari looked at Tikki who was sitting on Mari desk next to her computer munching on a chocolate chip cookie.

"He doesn't remember anything, so how could he be mad at you?"

"I know Tikki, but I feel bad about it and I worry Nath might not want to be friends anymore because I don't have the same feelings for him as he does for me! oh, what should I do Tikki?" Mari pulled her knees up to her chest, tucked in her head and started crying. All of a sudden she heard a knock on her window.

"I wonder who that could be? Oh, hide Tikki!"

Mari walked over to see Chat noir outside her window, standing on the small ledge soaking wet.

"Chat you're all wet!!" Mari said opening the window to let him in.

"Yeah, I know, it started raining on my way over." He shook himself spraying water everywhere then took the towel Mari had gotten. "Thanks."

"What are you doing here Chat?"

Chat's POV:

I had just left my house when it started raining.

"You could always turn back" I heard Plagg say inside my head.

"Since when have you been able to do that?"

"I've always been able to, just told you. Oh and you don't have to talk, I can hear your thoughts, which are really funny and disgusting, especially when you're around Ladybug."

"WHAT!! great, now I can't even keep my thought private from you." Chat sighed.

"Your welcome, oh and you should bring cheese with you if you keep visiting her. Otherways you won't be able to stay long."

"Ok Plagg, I get it, you want even more cheese. I think my father might get suspicious though at my already unusually high amount of camembert that I buy."

"Would you look at that, we are at your friend's house."

Chat looked down to see he was on the balcony of Mari's house. That's when he heard someone crying. He leaped down onto a small ledge next to a window that looked right into Mari's room. Glancing in the window, he saw Mari on her chaise sobbing, her knees to her chest and her head facing the opposite way of the window, looking like she was talking to someone. He didn't want to, but his cat-like hearing enabled him to hear almost every word of what she was saying. It was something about Nathaniel, not wanting to be friends with her and then she put her head on her knees and started sobbing. Chat knocked on the window, making her jump.

"Chat your all wet!!" Mari said opening the window to let him in.

"Yeah, I know, it started raining on my way over." He shook himself spraying water everywhere then took the towel Mari had gotten. "Thanks."

"What are you doing here Chat?" she looked at him with curiosity, her cheeks still stained with tears, some of which were still in her eyes.

"Well, I heard a damsel was in distress so I came to help!" He struck a pose, making her laugh. "Actually, I wanted to make sure you were alright after what happened the other night."

Mari looked down at her feet, her tears starting to fall once again. Chat went over and sat on the chaise motioning for her to sit next to him.

"Tell me whats wrong. Please, I don't like seeing you cry, I liked it better when you were laughing." Mari came over and sat down next to him. He put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close so that she could rest her head on his shoulder, if she wanted, which is exactly what she did.

"I'm just worried that Nath won't want to be friends anymore because I don't share the same feelings for him that he has for me." Mari leaned closer, putting more weight on Chat's should and started to cry a little harder. "We've been friends since we were little and I don't want to lose that friendship. He was my only friend until my friend Nino moved in a few years ago and when my best friend Alya moved in this year. He's like my brother, no, he IS my brother, and I-I-I don't want to lose that!!"

"It's okay Mari." He started stroking her hair, "Maybe if you talk to him, he will understand and you guys can still be friends."

"Yeah, thanks Chat, but that's a big maybe."

"I don't think it's as big as you think Mari, but promise me this one thing, if things don't go as planned, call for me and we will talk about it. If you want that is. But just don't get akumatized. ok?"

"Ok Chat."

"Do you promise?" Chat raised an eyebrow at her, though she couldn't really see it due to his mask covering it for the most part.

Mari raised her right hand. "I promise."

Chat looked at the time on his phone. His Dad was due home in about half an hour and Natalie would be looking for him soon to have him get ready for dinner.

"Sorry Mari, but I need to go home, if you want I can come again sometime."

"I would love that, and Chat, thank you. It was nice being able to talk to someone."

"Anytime, PURRRincess." He leaped out her window to run home.

"Okay plagg, I know I wasn't the one who called her that."

"Yeah, forgot one little thing, I can make you say things. Not major things, only a word or two, just enough to keep things interesting."

"What am I going to do with you?"

"Hopefully give me some cheese."

"ugh"

They soon arrived home, just as Adrian had detransformed, Natalie knocked on his door.

"I'm coming Natalie" and with that he ran downstairs to eat dinner, thinking of a way he, as Adrian, could cheer Mari up.

~AT MARI'S HOUSE ~

MARI'S POV:

"I wonder what that was about." Mari wondered

"I think he wanted to make sure you were alright."

"Oh hey Tikki. Do you want some cookies?"

"Mari, have I ever said no to cookies?" Tikki gave her a stern look, and Mari started laughing. Tikki joined in but quickly stopped and hid when they heard someone walking up the ladder to Mari's room.

"Hey, Darling." It was Sabine, Mari's mom. "It's time to eat. Did I hear someone up here?"

"No mama, just me. I was working on my designs and made a mistake that made the dress look hilarious. I just finished erasing it." Mari lied. She hated lying to her mom, but she didn't exactly want to tell her mom that Chat had been visiting nor did she want to tell her mom about Tikki and her being Ladybug.

"Okay, whatever you say honey, but if you want to come down to eat that would be great."

"Okay mom, I'm coming." Mari climbed down the ladder after her, Tikki in her jacket, and a smile on her face.
