Have you ever felt so alone that you started to see spirits? If you have, then you are lucky. I wish I could see spirits. Maybe then I would have someone to talk to. I do have friends. But I don't talk to them very much. Only when I see them at school. Even then, I don't talk to them very much. We just don't have much in common. They are in to guys and fashion. Guy's don't really notice me and I only wear whatever is comfortable. I'm more interested on doing things on my own (but I hate being alone). There is one thing that I'm obsessed with. Vampires.

I could handle being alone if I was a vampire of the night. Then I could fly off into the night and never look back. I could see the world. At night anyway. Well, all vampire stories are different. Some vampires can handle the light and some disintegrate. I want to be my own special vampire. One who can walk around with regular humans and go to school in the daylight. I would want to be a vampire princess.

Anyway, all that doesn't matter. That's just a silly dream that all lonely people want to come true. My mother said I need to get out of the house more and stop daydreaming about my life and go create my own future. Alexandria Calvin does not have anything to do outside. I hate my name. I like to call myself Alex. But my mom calls me by the name that is on my birth certificate. My father use to call me Alex, until he died from heart cancer.

"Alexandria," my mother called, "You're going to be late to school if you don't get up."

"Can I skip school today?" I asked, "We aren't doing anything except going to a museum."

"If she can skip school, then I can to." my younger brother, Royce, said.

"No one is skipping school," mom said, "You have a test today Royce. Alexandria, you are smart. Someone as smart as you should love going to museums."

"Do you know how many teachers have said that to me?" I asked, "All of them. And do you know how many times the museum ended up being boring. All the times I listened to my teachers."

"This one is new to town. You might actually like this one."

"I doubt it." I grabbed an apple and went out the door. My old Cadillac sat in the driveway. Everyone makes fun of my car. I don't like it very much either but who said they can make fun of it. Just because everyone that goes to my school is rich and I'm middle class does not mean they can make fun of me or my car. Even my friends make fun of it.

I turned the key to start the engine but it didn't start. It never starts on the first try. When it finally started, I backed out of the driveway and my brother came running out of the house. I almost forgot him. He jumped into the front seat and put his seat belt on.

"How could you forget about me?" Royce asked.

"I didn't forget about you," I said, "I almost forgot about you." I dropped him off at school. Then I drove to my school. I pulled in and found the furthest spot away from the better cars and parked. I got out and grabbed my bag. I walked towards the school and a group of people started starring at me like I was some freak. I turned away from them and continued towards the school. My friends were waiting by the door.

"Took you long enough." Rachael said.

"I over slept." I said. We went to my locker. I shoved my jacket in my locker and grabbed a pencil.

"Why do you need that?" Jenny asked, "We're going to the museum."

"They're probably going to make us do a paper or something about one of the exhibits. I'm bringing a pencil to take some notes on a few of them."

"Nerd." They both said.

"Whatever." I said. I slammed my locker and walked to my first class.
