I woke up to a headache. Last night I had to rack my brain just to answer some of the math questions. On top of the hard homework, I had a bad dream last night. Blake was a blood-sucking vampire who didn't want to make my wish come true but to kill me. That's why I hesitated to kiss him. I'm glad Nathan came when he did. I was going to faint if I got any closer to him. This first kiss thing is a challenge. I jumped in the shower, brushed my hair and teeth, got dressed, then I went downstairs. I practically fell down the steps. I feel really light headed.

"Are you alright, Alexandria?" Mom asked.

"I'm fine, mom. I just have a headache." I answered.

"Are you feeling faint?" She pressed her hand to my forehead, "You're burning up. You aren't going to school or work today."

"Works for me." I lay down on the couch and went to sleep.

My mom woke me up. She looked worried. I looked around and I was in the hospital. Royce, Rachael, Jenny, and Blake were surrounding me.

"Why am I in the hospital?" I asked.

"You wouldn't wake up. You were asleep for 2 days and I got worried and brought you here." Mom explained.

"The doctor said you were in a coma." Jenny said.

"At least she woke up." Rachael said.

"What put me in a coma?" I asked.

"The doctor said your heart failed and then it suddenly started beating again." Mom explained.

"How long have I been sleeping total?" I asked.

"For about a week." Blake answered. A week! Wow! It felt like I was asleep for only a second.

"Do they know what caused my heart to fail?" I asked.

"No. They just said it stopped beating." Mom said, "They x-rayed it and everything. You have a healthy heart. It just stopped working though."

"That's strange." I said, "Well, I'm awake now and I'm starving. Let's go out to eat. All of us."

"You can't leave until they release you."

"What?! I'm perfectly fine! Watch!" I stood up and started walking around. I took Blake's hands and started twirling around. Then my stomach growled.

"If I can't leave, can I at least get some food?" I asked. Everyone sighed. The nurse came in and perked up.

"You're awake," She said, "Can I get you anything?"

"You can get me some release forms and some food." I replied. She smiled.

"I'll have the doctor come check on you first but I'll bring you some food."

"Finally." I relaxed. The nurse left. Everyone stared at me except for Blake.

"Alex, I have to tell you something." Jenny said. I looked at her.

"What?" I asked.

"I don't know if it's a good time to tell you."

"Right now is as good a time as ever."

"They approved your club."

"That's a relief. I thought you were going to say something bad." She turned away.

"No one joined it." My heart sank. Tears filled my eyes.

"Not one person joined. But that girl said she loved vampires. Mom, you said there are people who just like joining clubs. So why didn't any one join?"
