It was another day and Yachi has to suffer another panic attack in school. After hearing the word "presentation", it alarmed her nerves and started panicking. She left the room without saying anything to anyone because she can't face anyone in that state. She hurriedly went to the infirmary. This feeling of being choked makes her weak. She hasn't walk for long when she felt dizzy and her sight is turning blurry. Her body felt weak. She can't walk anymore. She was on front of a classroom when she fainted on the ground.
°°°
Yachi slowly opens her eyes. The first thing she saw is the ceiling. She wanders her eyes around the room where she is. She's in the clinic and she's currently resting on one of the infirmary's beds. But how? She remembers fainting in the middle of the hallway while she's on her way here. Somebody must have carried her but who?
"Oh, you're awake. Are you feeling much better?"
Yachi searches for the person who spoke. She saw a guy not far from where she is, sitting on a chair near the nurse's table. He is a tall guy with raven black hair, sharp, blue eyes and a rather scary expression on his face.
"You fainted near our classroom and I was asked to carry you here. The nurse was about to leave when I brought you here. She said that she has to go somewhere so she asked me to look after you," his expression softens as he speak to her.
She stares at him for a moment without making eye contact then slowly nods. It feels awkward when somebody you don't know is watching you sleep.
"T-thank y-you... a-a-and sorry for causing you tr-trouble," she murmurs.
"You... you're Hinata's friend, right?"
She looks at him with a surprised and puzzled expression. He knows Hinata?
"Y-yeah," she replied.
"You're the one he usually hangs out with, right? He mentioned you once but I forgot the name. Oh, by the way, the name's Kageyama."
Kageyama. Where did she hear it? Ah, that's right. From Hinata. When he was eating with her in her classroom. So this is the Kageyama guy he was talking about.
"Y-Yachi Hi-Hitoka."
"I see. So, Yachi-san, do you want me to go ahead or stay for a while?"
"U-um, you still have classes s-so you can go ahead. I can manage by myself," she made a faint smile to show that she's fine now.
Kageyama nods his head and stood up from the chair. "Alright. Then, I'll be going. Just wait for the nurse to come back, okay?"
She nods in reply. After getting a response, Kageyama left the room. The room is finally silent. She stares at the ceiling and felt her head still throbbing in pain. Her hands that are resting on her stomach start to tremble once again. Ah, her so-called aftershock. Just because she already rested doesn't mean that her panic attack would disappear as well. It just pauses and it will come back again once she's awake. She hides under the blanket as she tries to calm herself down.
"Why is this happening to me?" She whispered to herself as the tears came rolling down on her cheeks.
°°°
It was already lunch time when she woke up. She didn't realized that she slept again after she had a small chat with Kageyama. She must be really tired. Panic attacks consume too much energy from the person who experiences it. She sighs. She skipped her classes again. She pushes herself out of the bed but it was not a good idea. She feels like her head is rotating. She slowly lays on the bed once again.
"Oh, hi. How are you feeling?" The nurse asks, wearing a sweet smile.
The voice that broke the silence startled her. She lets out a sigh of relief after knowing that it was the nurse. She was sitting on her chair whilst writing down something on her notebook.
"M-much better but my head still hurts."
"I see. Then rest for a while before you go back to your class."
'I actually don't want to go back, though,' she thought. 'They'll probably judge me again with their looks.'
"Yachi-san?!" The silence was destroyed again by the shrill voice of a guy. Thankfully, there's no other patient inside, besides her, that will get disturbed.
The nurse scolded the boy who just barged in. The boy apologized for being so noisy then asked if there is still someone inside.
"Yeah, there is. But please, quiet down. She's still resting," the nurse pleaded in a gentle voice.
"I'll try my best. Well then, please excuse me."
She heard light footsteps approaching towards her. Behind the curtains appeared Hinata. He is turning his head side by side to find Yachi. When he spotted her, his eyes sparkle and a huge smile made its way on his face.
"Yachi-san, are you alright? Kageyama went to our class and said that he brought you here because you fainted. I'm sorry I couldn't come earlier," he quavers.
She giggles at his behavior. "Yes, yes. I'm alright now. And it's fine," she tries to sit on the bed but her arms fail to help her push herself.
Hinata frowns. "Are you taking the medicine the doctor prescribed?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, I almost forgot," Hinata grins. "Go watch our practice if you're free later."
