"Awakening to Life"
Author: freefalling22
Summary:
Everyone dies... someday and somehow.
Alison Redding is not your normal teenage girl - although she is pretty talented at pretending she is. Alison is dying of cancer, but when it seems that all hope is lost she will find the people who make her want to fight back, harder than ever before. Can she live the life of a normal, healthy teenage girl when she can't seem to go a few days without a visit to the hospital? And most importantly, can she fall in love when she doesn't know how much time is left?

My Thoughts:
Whenever someone asks me for a Wattpad book recommendation, I never (ever) fail to mention "Awakening to Life" without even thinking. So far, none of them finished it with any regrets.
I've grown tired of the average teenage drama found in average books. Their dilemmas, like ours, aren't really as big as we make if out to be. This story is proof of that. I mean, what can be worse than having cancer during the supposedly best years of your life?
Awakening to life is truly one special book. Yes, it's about cancer and is oh so predictable, but the author made it seem so... personal. The simplicity of the characters, paired with the depth of their thoughts just made it all feel so real. (which sucks cause cancer is one big bazooka blast through your heart) I can't emphasize enough how much this book affected me without ruining it for you; no major life changes or anything like that, but rather little thoughts implanted in my mind. I can't also tell you what you'll learn from the story since we all come from different experiences and therefore have different stands, but you'll definitely pick something up along the way.
Need more proof?
I caught myself crying, no, sobbing in the middle of the night, inside a room lit only by the light from my phone's screen. It was quite a sight since this is coming from someone who didn't shed a tear in any Nicholas Sparks movie.
I'm strangely proud to say that it's now available for purchase on ebook and in paperback form. The details are in her account. It's still available in Wattpad though (thank god)! The author added and revised a lot of things in the published version so it's still worth your money.
This story really made me feel like I was on the verge of dying and on the verge of losing someone all at the same time. I'd love for you to feel that way as well. (no sadistic implications there)
Remember: Feel free to comment what you think if you've already read it or just finished reading it! I'd love to hear your side!
Cheers!
