My Thoughts:
It took me a while to finally agree to reading this one. What can I say? I found the plot cliche and over-used. (Although, the cherry knotting part is quite interesting.) But we all know that in every story, a certain amount of cliche is necessary, and considering how short the entire thing was, I finally succumbed to boredom.
It turned out to be quite a delightful read. The first chapter alone was enough to make me latch onto the story. (Well I was intrigued at how well the words were put together and the foreshadowing of the entire plot) You can almost immediately tell that Cherry Knots is authored by a person who possesses a fair amount of intellect and is an experienced writer. The characters may seem over-rated, but look again. Now that I think about it, there weren't any playboys at all. To me, it was a story of two emotionally scarred characters who keep secrets (that aren't too insane or impossible). It's not a cliche at all.
The story was not too short nor too long, and I admired the author's objectivity when she wrote the whole thing. She didn't focus on what we needed to know, and didn't dwell on the minor characters. It was as if she was merely recalling the entire thing.
The pace is quite normal and the author didn't hesitate to skip ahead of the story to not waste time. Character development benefited the most out of that.
Overall, it was the perfect type of short story. Short, full, and satisfying. You should read it!
Remember: Feel free to comment what you think if you've already read it or just finished reading it! I'd love to hear your side!
Cheers!
