Ramsil burst into his father’s conference room. He didn’t know there was a meeting going on. He stood there while all of his father’s advisors stared at him. He started to feel uncomfortable. His father gave him an icy glare. He’s gonna tell me off for bursting into his precious meeting. He called for me, so why was he in a meeting?
“Thank You gentlemen, we shall continue with this meeting tomorrow morning at 10:30am,” King Logan said. All of King Logan’s advisors left the room.
“Father? You called for me. The guard you sent sounded very urgent.” Ramsil said politely to his father.
King Logan paced the room. He was trying to think of a way to break the news to his father. The Princesses of the Blue Crescent Islands had agreed the alliance that Logan had offered and now his only son had to marry the Fourth Princess. Logan sighed gravely. “Fergox Heartaxe is planning to attack Gerfal and The Blue Crescent Islands. We don’t know which one of us is first, so we have decided to make an alliance with The Blue Crescent Islands.” He paused, waiting for his son to talk.
“Well that is a wise choice father. The Crescent Islands have a lot of men and women in their army and they can help a lot if they joined up with our army.” Ram answered. He didn’t know why his father was making such a fuss about an alliance.
“So you think this is a good idea, that we should go forward with it and not let anything get in the way?” Logan asked.
“Yes, I do.” Ram said. He was confused. What did his father mean by ‘not let anything get in the way?’
“Good, then. The alliance is that the Fourth and youngest Princess will marry you.” Logan said quickly.
“What?!”
“You must marry the Fourth Princess or the alliance is off,” Logan said.
“But father, I am only 25 and –”
“That’s enough, you are going to marry her,” his father said sternly.
“Yes father,” Ram answered sullenly.
“I’m only doing this because I know you’ll be able to cope and I know you will do anything to make sure Gerfal is free from Fergox Heartaxe. The Princess will be arriving tomorrow and she will be having the room opposite to yours and I want you to make her feel at home her.” Logan said to Ram.
“Yes father, I will.” Ram said. He got up and left the conference room and headed for his room.
