Justin's POV (before he proposed)
For the past month, I could see the results from Dr. Gale. Paige was happier. She smiled more. She didn't have any more nightmares or night cries. She had become more of the Paige I fell in love with. Paige still bore some scars from the ordeal, both physically and mentally. She couldn't stay in her apartment and she had to get rid of the bedsheets that were on her bed, but she was stronger than ever and I was in complete awe of her.
She once told me she looked up to me because I was such a good guy and because of everything I did for other people, but now I looked up to HER. She was my angel, my own fighting warrior. She was strong now. I was ready to spend the rest of my life with her by myside because she had my heart, my little hero.
The day she went back to work was the day I had everything planned. I called Hopkins, Foster and Cushing. I told them I was planning on asking Paige to marry me. They each gave me a congratulations before I told them my plan. Paige was going to love it. I told them what to get while I went to the jewers. I parked and went in. The salesman looked up and greeted me.
"What can I do for you today?" he asked, straightening the tie on his suit.
"I need an engagement ring," I said, a smile tugging on my lips. He beamed and waved me to their engagement ring selection.
"Of course sir," he said. "Here they are! The best in town!"
I looked down and skimmed over most of them. Those were big and flashy, nothing Paige would like. She didn't like the extravagance. She wasn't that type of girl. Finally my eyes landed on a small simple, ring. The stone was beautifully cut and the stone shone a mixture of pink and clear. The band was silver. It was perfect for her. I pointed to it, not caring about the price, and looked up.
"I'll take that one," I said. He looked down and nodded. He plucked it from the case and held it up to me.
"This one?" he asked. I nodded. "Very well. I'll have it put in a box for you to take." He wandered off to get the box, while I got my debit card out. When he came back, we exhanged iteams before he ran off to charge my card. He returned and handed it to me. "Good luck and congradulations!" I smiled.
"Thank you," I said before I left, tucking the box in my pocket. I got in and drove away, knowing the pap's would get a tip on where I was. That's why I split up the jobs between the guys, so I could do all of this and them not figure out that I was planning on asking Paige to marry me. I wanted our surprise to be quiet first.
When I got home a little after lunch, the guys were already there. They were waiting for me outside my door, each of them holding what they were supposed to get. I beamed at them while I fished out my keys.
"You guys are awesome!" I said, opening the door. I got a chorus of "I know and thanks". I rolled my eyes and let the guys in. "Ok, we have a little less than four hours to get this place clean, decorated and presentable." I glanced at the clock. It was nearly one.
Shit.
"Ok, I'll clean the bedroom. Hopkins, Foster, you guys get the living room. Cushing you do the kitchen. And go!"
The guys set their stuff on the counter before running off to do as their told. I ran to the bedroom and threw all of the dirty clothes into the corner of the room. I made the bed and took any cups we had to the kitchen. Cushing gave me a look before putting them in the sink. I went back to the room and put up any clean clothes we had out.
I went into the bathroom and cleared off the counter. I put Paige's make up in her bag and put the bag in her drawer, before I put the curling iron and straightener into the same drawer. I tossed the empty thing of toilet paper and put a new one before I closed the shower curtain, sprayed some Fabreeze and left. Walking back to the room, I grabbed all of the dirty clothes and shoved them into a basket before I went to do laundry. I put the clothes in the washer, put in detergent and started it, leaving the basket there. I went to the kitchen, where Cushing was sweeping.
