Rose was dragging me through the forest by the wrist. My grip was tight on Jerome's hand, yanking him along with.
“Rose! Where are you taking us?!”
She didn't answer, just ran faster. I was breathing hard, low tree branches whipping me in the face as I sprinted through the forest. Rose stopped for a second, her glance darting around, then began to run again.
“Are we almost there?” Jerome panted.
“I really don't know, Biggums,” I replied, looking back at him. Suddenly I collided with Rose.
“Watch it,” she whispered, staring forward. I followed her gaze and saw a large purpleish-blue hole floating in the sky. It looked like a portal.
“There's how we get home,” she breathed. My jaw dropped. It was enormous and intimidating.
“That's gonna take us home?” I asked quietly. She nodded, her gaze still locked on the portal.
“Let's go, then,” Jerome said, taking a step into the clearing.
“Wait, Jerome, stop!” Rose exclaimed, lunging for him, but it was too late. The ground began to quake. Darkness split through the cloudy sky, booming like thunder. Something appeared from the dark crevice and began to slowly and gracefully float to the ground.
“Shit. Oh, no, no, no. Mitch, Jerome, run!” Rose yelled, but neither of us paid any attention.
As the thing got closer, I realized it was a woman. She had long dark black hair billowing out around her in a halo. She was wearing a short black dress with lacy sleeves and a flowing cape, also made of lace. As she hit the ground, the shaking stopped and the crack in the sky closed up.
Squinting, I got a better look of her features. She had sharp cheekbones and chin. Her face was pale, highlighting the bright green of her eyes and dark red lips. Her whole aura radiated “bad”.
“Who is that?” I asked Rose, even though I already knew the answer to the question.
“That,” she said calmly, “Is Lesa.”
Lesa walked towards us confidently. Once she reached the treeline where we were standing, she spoke.
“Nice to see you again, Sh-” Lesa began, directed at Rose.
“Lesa,” she interrupted. “It's been a while.”
Then June exited the trees.
“Whoa, who invited this bitch?” She said immediately. Lesa turned to her. Thunder cracked in the background.
“Ah, June. You decided to join, too?”
June growled.
“And you two,” she continued, “Are Mitch and Jerome, I assume?”
I shared a look with Jerome that said “should we say something?” but neither of us did. Lesa smiled. “I always wanted you two to be together. I had it all planned out, too. That day you two almost kissed, I would've brought you straight to the bedroom and started your relationship the-” she winked- “best way. But these two-” she glared at June and Rose- “had to intervene and stop me. You would've already been in a happy relationship if it weren't for them,” she finished.
It took me a second to process what she was saying.
“Hold on.” Jerome beat me to it. “You're saying you would've made me fuck him and you think the relationship would've lasted? Are you insane?”
