The rest of our day went by fairly quick. More spontaneous questions arose about the area, how far the treaty stretched and how in the world we were supposed to work with the ‘dogs’ if they were being complete idiots. Everyone was in and out all day after our meeting, running circles around Forks and then going to Seattle and trying to catch of glimpse of what we were in for with the newborn situation.

Another problem arose as we still couldn’t get ahold of Laurent. Well, Irina couldn’t. I however was stuck inside all day. Luckily; I thought sarcastically; I was at the Cullen’s house, where there was a very large space to do a very large amount of things. I could play a video game, or sleep, or eat…I shook my head, thinking of Emmett’s comment of if he could eat all day he would. I told him he very well could. I would even cook for him. He gave me a wide-eyed look then saying no way in hell will you make me eat human food. The people around at that time had a good laugh. I sighed now, as I was the only one home. Edward had been very reluctant to leave my side, and if he did go anywhere it was as long as half an hour at most. Neither of us could stand much longer.

Right now, I was settled on his piano bench, tinkering around with the notes and trying to remember a bit from when I took lessons at such a young age. I didn’t sound very pretty and I didn’t want to crush the memories of Edward playing for me with the ones of me sounding tone deaf, so I quit, just staring at the ivory keys.

When Alice came back from Seattle with Jasper, she had told me about what she found out about herself in the time she was away. Her name was Mary Alice Brandon, she told me, continuing with saying that she had a little sister named Cynthia, whose daughter—her niece—is alive in Biloxi. I asked her about if she found out anything else while she was human, if she knew why her parents had put her in that awful place.

“I couldn’t find much about them. I went through all the old newspapers on microfiche. My family wasn’t mentioned often; they weren’t part of the social circle that made the papers. My parents’ engagement was there, and Cynthia’s…my birth was also announced…and my death. I found my grave. I also filched my admissions sheet from the old asylum archives. The date on the admission and the date on my tombstone are the same.”

I hugged her afterward, thanking her for being a sister to me, which of course made her blow up with a sob and hug me tighter. After about 10 minutes of endless emotion and clinging, she rushed upstairs. Leaving me; in complete shock. Not for long apparently, for she came rushing back down, cell phone in hand 2 seconds later.

“What?” I asked when she was standing in front of me, smiling brightly with her hand stretched out to give me the phone.

“It’s a phone silly! They didn’t have this one in Port Angeles, so I had to go to Seattle.” She explained, rolling her eyes as if it was the most obvious thing, “I didn’t want to wait two days till it was delivered anyways.”

“Alice…I appreciate you going through all that trouble and what-not, but I don’t need a cellphone.” I told her gently, making her roll her eyes again.

“Look. We can do this the easy way or the hard way Isabella. Either way you will take this phone.” Alice demanded. My eyes went wide at how threatening she could be without an implication of the actual threat. Good Lord. I blinked twice before taking the cell phone out of her hand and giving a small smile.

Hers was grand and white when she returned it, sitting down next to me and starting to blab about shopping.

The phone had been oddly useful. I guess you really shouldn’t bet against Alice. Edward called me frequently while he was gone, making sure I was in the house and safe. Honestly it was getting a bit annoying, but I knew it was for my own good.
