Misconception - Prt 2
I wasn't really sure about what was happening around me. I saw a limited amount of faces every day. Coincidently, they all looked similar, but somehow, there was always something different about them. I wasn't able to tell if it was the same person, or if they simply changed their facial expressions. They all looked the same to me. Intimidating creatures they were; especially the one I scared off. He was too close to me and I had no choice; I was afraid. I didn't know why they had me there, locked up, but I needed to find a way to escape.
The work I did every day stayed the same and never changed. I had started acquiring a sense of anxiety a few weeks ago, when I realized that nothing I did changed, but those creatures around me had. I couldn't comprehend how they changed so rapidly. I looked up at the ceiling of my room. For the moment, the lights were turned off and, like always, I was expected to fall asleep. Then, I eagerly looked out the window, hoping that there would be no one. My hopes were crushed. I saw a menacing shadow and cringed back into a fetal position away from the window.
Why is this happening to me? What did these creatures want from me? My heart started beating faster and my breathing turned to be more rash and irregular. This can't be happening again, can it? My eyes zoomed across the room continuously, scanning for a weapon or something that would save me. There was nothing that could save me; in fact, there was nothing on the floor at all. I clenched my teeth and tried staying stiff; to play dead, you know? Hopefully the stalker would leave.
"Mr. Roland seems to be liking his new place." The head nurse spoke, seemingly satisfied. The second nurse grunted, "Yeah, the darn thing just sits about nowadays. Doesn't do anything at all." "Is that so? Should we give him some fresh air? Well, it seems like a good idea." "I don't know ma'am, I don't want him prancing about amuck. The last time we thought he was civilized was a big mistake." "Point made. We'll keep him locked up for a week or so."
