JODIE SAT ON THE PORCH and she watched the sun come up, it was bit chilly but her body was warm and the wood beneath her feet consumed her. She inhaled as she takes in the smell of dewy grass and manure because of the neighbors' cows that always shit next to her land but it reminded her of the little farm she had when she was young, her mother had some goats, chickens, cows, and horses. She missed her mother so much and today was her birthday, she would be turning forty-nine. Jodie felt her presence as the wind blew and she sighed as she raked her curls back then she pursed her lips as she walked back into her house.

Colin was getting ready for work and the kids were already off to school because Casper offered to pick them also drop them off but Colin, of course, doesn't know because he would have a whole fit. Jodie walked into the kitchen and the sound of Otis Redding played, she sees Colin slightly dancing as he made his lunch. He had such great taste in music but he was a horrible person.

Jodie frowned because she didn't know how a man who once was sweet as pie could turn into a monster, he haunted her as much as her father did and her father was horrible but Colin was a few notches crazier. He turned around and he looked at Jodie, he scanned her and he gave her a look of displeasure. "Why are you so happy?"

Jodie bites her lip as she looked at him. "It's-It's—"

"Got dammit stop stuttering, you sound ridiculous." Colin snapped and Jodie bowed her head as she walked past him, she could never talk to him because he frightened her every time she would say something, he would talk down on her. "Never mind." She susurrate and she went to go sit down then watched TV. She crosses her legs in the couch, she changes the channel to some baseball highlights. She loved baseball, reminded of her home and baseball highlights didn't hurt her.

Colin walked past the living room without acknowledging her. "I'm gone!" Colin yelled and he slammed the screen door, she sat there and she let out a sigh of relief when he hears the car startup, within five minutes, he was gone and she felt free, she felt it but she wasn't.

A couple of hours later, she was sitting in front of Casper and Sadie was in her lap as she played around with the napkins, putting them in her mouth and Casper looked at the two, he loved little Sadie. She seemed like an easy baby, has a fondness towards Casper for some reason because usually when people hold her she didn't like it so much.

Sadie's blue eyes met his and he smiled at her, she smiled back and she giggled as bubbles formed at her mouth in which Casper found so cute. "You never told me about your family." Jodie spoke and she looked at the menu, not really familiar with anything besides chicken and dumpling but next time she was gonna live a little and pick something else. "I have a big family and a really crazy one. Mom, Dad, and four siblings. Two brothers and two Sisters." Casper says as he looked at her, he saw that she wore more revealing clothes because her bruises healed up right not as noticeable. She wore this wrap blue dress that had a bow tied in the back and some black sandals. Her hair was down like the usual.

"Tell me all about 'em." Jodie grinned and her eyes shifted towards him, his brown eyes were light, soft and subtle but it comforted her for some reason and reminded of her Grandpa's eyes. "Okay, I'm the third oldest, I have an older sister and brother who are twins. Their names are David and Dawn, they both are married with kids whom I adore but I hardly see them because they're all the way in San Antonio but I do drive there often. Dawn is around more than David because we were never really that close, I'm cool with that." He says as he looked into her eyes the whole time.

Some people can't look into people's eyes the whole time because it scares them or it'd awkward but it seems so normal to Casper and Jodie.

Casper smiles a little because she didn't take any attention from her at all. "My other siblings are Fletcher and the youngest is Marina who's a pain in the ass but not as annoying as Fletcher. Fletcher is very quiet and doesn't socialize with people but has this like gentle Steve Irwin bond with them and that's why we had so many different types of animals in our house it was ridiculous. We were already a Zoo." Casper chuckled at the end and Jodie laughs as she smiled so big because his siblings seemed so amazing.
