Chapter 11

Niklaus' warlock Maddox nor Katerina knew what the necklace was for other then to protect her, her necklace had a dim flickering glow all night besides one moment when it had brightened, the red turning a blinding white the moment Elijah's dagger was removed not that they knew that.

"The full moon is almost upon us" Nora herd Alaric's voice speak loudly filling the small apartment "I've killed the witch, I have the moonstone and the doppelgänger is waiting in the wings" she knew Elijah had been woken, the image of Elena pulling the dagger out flashes in her eyes that remained closed hiding the vibrant blue they become "oh, I am ready to break this curse" he sighs oblivious to Nora being awake but he glanced at her every now and then seeing the necklace still had it's glow.

"And why would you do that here?" Katerina's voice followed his reminding Nora of where she was "there's so many people that would try to stop you"

"Because I have to. It's the birth place of the doppelgänger" annoyance laced each word followed by a frustrated exhale of breath.

"I didn't know realise that was a requirement"

"Well, how could you? You betrayed me and fled England before I could give you the details, Katerina" he whispered her name as Nora could hear the sound of footsteps "but I did find your birth place and I slaughtered your family. So I guess we're cool" even the children. Nora thought sadly "let's just hope that Elena isn't as stupid as you are"

"She won't run" Katerina sighs "she'll die before she lets anyone that she loves get hurt"

"And that's exactly what I'm counting on. You can't leave until I tell you to" once Nora herd the apartment door close she sat up the necklace loosing its glow seeing Katerina in the kitchen with her back to the bed. A burning starting to build in the back of Nora's throat, a hunger for blood her body needing it to heal. Katerina gasps suddenly finding Nora awake in front of her though her focus was on the fridge where she found a blood bag that she quickly drank suppressing the hunger completely and let out a breath.

"Katerina" Nora turned to face the doppelgänger with a look of no emotion "where did he go?"

"I don't know" she told truthfully watching Nora as she tries to leave "his witch put a spell on the apartment, you can't leave" Katerina explains making Nora sigh, she could easily break the spell and leave but that would lead Niklaus becoming suspicious and somewhat vengeful.

"I don't think that this is a good idea" both Katerina and Nora herd Andie from the hallway, Nora sat up from where she had laid again on the bed worriedly waiting Niklaus' return.

"You're an investigative journalist. We're investing" Damon's voice followed and Nora moved to stand in the middle of the apartment watching Katerina struggle to grab the door handle being stopped by an invisible force. Someone knocked on the door as she gave up in frustration.

"Hi Alaric? Are you home?" Andie's voice called "it's Andie... Starr. Jenna's friend" Katerina walked from the door with an exhale turning back as the sound of the door's lock creaking and breaking and then the door was pushed open revealing them all to each other.

"Thank god" Katerina sighs. Nora stood with her arms crossed behind her.

"Wow. You were right. She looks exactly like Elena" Andie spoke with amazement stepping into the apartment whilst Damon tested the barrier already knowing he couldn't get in but why not try?

"You good, Nora?" He asks concerned, his brows almost touching with worry and all she could do was quietly shrug unsure on how she feel's about being back with Niklaus after all this time. Truth is apart of her is thrilled, excited even to be back with Niklaus, her brother but the rest of her knows how vengeful he can be and that scared her "though you might be dead" Damon sighs to Katerina knowing Nora wasn't ready to talk yet.
