Chapter 14

It had been a long summer for everyone. Elena and all those back in Mystic Falls trying hard to find Stefan and Stefan trying hard to keep his brother away whilst Niklaus and Nora had constantly argued about most things. But one argument went too far and now Nora had been ignoring Niklaus completely, a pain resting in her chest making a home for itself inside her.

They had come to Chicago much to Nora's joy as she had business in the city from the twenties in a place Niklaus was taking them. His hybrids failed, he even tried to make Nora turn one of the wolves but she refused knowing it would have worked because she tried to save someone and it failed to save his life but it turned him, successfully into a sired hybrid whom Nora set him free. Years ago. She hadn't seen him since. Niklaus walked behind Stefan and Nora, her arm linked with his as they talked about random things and she smiled, he could tell that Nora cared for Stefan. It made him almost feel guilty for dragging Stefan into all this
"So, Mr Salvatore. What were you doing in the twenties?" Nora asks her tone curious and almost knowing.

"I remember being in Chicago, I just.... I can't remember being in Chicago" Stefan told with his brows sinking in confusion.

"But you do remember what happened when I found you in Chicago, right?" Amusement grew as they both chuckled "yeah, you know I prefer you over Damon when you are drunk, just don't Damon I said that" they chuckle, her eyes sparkle as her head rolled back with laughter causing her curled hair to sway almost reflecting the sun light but slowly her smile faded replaced by a frown "I miss, Damon" she admits quietly "and James, I wish I could see James again. Just once so I can say a proper goodbye"

"Come here" Stefan wrapped his arm around her shoulder's pulling her into his side "James would be proud of you, okay? You stuck to your beliefs and your friends. That hunter will get what's coming to him, I'm sure of it"

"Hunter?" Niklaus spoke quickly walking around them "what hunter and who is James?" He more demands then asks, concern written on his features and all Nora did walk let go of Stefan and walk around her brother "Stefan..." the Salvatore was now in a tight spot. He had agreed to do what ever Niklaus asked of him but he had promised Nora at the beginning of the summer he wouldn't tell Niklaus anything about Nora's history specially James.

"I don't know who the hunter is, Nora just said he was a vampire hunter one capable of anything and that he was too dangerous to go and find" Stefan told "and I made a promise to Nora that I wouldn't discuss her personal life with anyone" he took only a step forehead before a hand is pressed to his chest stopping him.

"I care for my little sister, Stefan. And I know that she is hurting, I want to help her with her pain but I can not do that if I do not know what pains her" he told with a seriousness in his eye and concern that Stefan could see "now, you care for her as well so why not help me help her, come on Stefan" he almost did, the Salvatore almost broke his promise thinking that Nora could use the help of her brother but Stefan had herd the story, Niklaus went out one night leaving the two in the hotel they stayed in and Nora told him everything, what Niklaus had planned and what she had done to protect herself.

"You want to help her, Klaus" he glance behind the original seeing Nora's white hair as she waited outside a door for them "let her come to you, Nora might be an original, she might be a hybrid but you scare her. She told me the story of what you did or were going to do and she admitted to me that you scare her, Klaus. So, if you really want to help her, take away her fear, let her know she can trust you" the advice was perfect, Stefan always had a way with words and Nora herd every word of it despite pretending she didn't but she did and she's glad to have a friend like Stefan.

But Niklaus worried for his sister more knowing the hunter they mentioned was Mikael and from that drawing he saw, from what she had told him she had more to fear from Mikael then she did himself and that fact alone was enough to take Stefan's words and mentally agree with them as they walked on to where Nora had been waiting outside the place with an all to familiar name written above the door 'Gloria's'. Niklaus pulled the door open allowing Nora and Stefan to step inside, Stefan steps become slow with his hands in his pockets as Nora sat in a booth under the window with her bag beside her. She could do her business after Niklaus' talk with Gloria that she plans to listen too.
