Sherlock looked at John, a look of shock stuck on his face. "Yo-You love me..?" Sherlock barely whispered. His heart was beating a thousand times a minute. "Well, that's what I said, Sherlock." John answered, smiling a Sherlock.
"John, I-I truly do not know what to say.."
"Just say the truth, Sherlock. I don't want to make things awkward between us, though. You are truly one of the best friends I've ever had. If you don't want a romantic-"
"But I do, John." Sherlock cut John off, grinning, John looked up from his cup in shock. "You do?'
"Yes."
"Sherlock, I don't want to pressure you or anything. You truly do?"
"Yes, John. Your the only person that has liked me enough- Romantically or not,- to stay with me through all my stupid experiments and go with me on cases for the students,"
Sherlock looked at John with his today blue eyes. John looked back, a sudden urge coming over him to lean across the table that separated the two and kiss him. "Come here, Sherlock." John barely whispered. Sherlock turned his head to the side and squinted his eyes ever so slightly, the way he did when he was confused. "For Christ sake, Sherlock. Come. Here." John said, louder this time.
Sherlock stood up silently and walked towards John, looking at the floor. John grabbed Sherlock's chin and lifted his head up so they we're eye level. "John, I've never kissed anyone.." Sherlock whispered. "There's a first time for everything." John whispered back, then leaned in. Sherlock was tempted to pull his head back, but he kept his head still.
When people in books describe first kisses, never believe them. It is so much different. Sherlock's stomach was thrown every way possible once there lips meet. John felt Sherlock relax into John's kiss. John was the first one to pull back.
"It's a great honor to be your first kiss, Sherlock Holmes." John said, grinning at Sherlock's red face. Sherlock looked at him, his face still glowing. "I'm sorry if I kissed you wrong, John..." Sherlock said, looking at the floor again. "Do you wanna try again, Sherlock?" John asked quietly. Sherlock nodded silently once more, looking at John again.
It was better this time, in Johns opinion. In Sherlock's, It was like reading his favorite book for the first time. It was like going to the store with his mother and leaving Mycroft and his god awful father. It made him feel like he did when John called him his best friend. It made him feel like he did when John stuck up for him in class when people made fun of him because he knew almost everything already.
It made him feel special.
John would never understand how much this moment meant to Sherlock. He would never understand that Sherlock would never forget this moment as long as he lived. John would never understand.
And Sherlock didn't want him too.
