Remembering things from my childhood, I'd say....I'm kinda similar to Tomoko. She's a socially awkward, weirdo who seems to have left a bad impression on the Japanese audience. Probably because she basically shows the "bad" side of being an "Otaku" and they didn't want their "culture" to be represented this way. Either way, I can somewhat relate to Tomoko's struggles. On one hand, she looks at outsiders with contempt and isn't really a "people" person. On the other hand, she...really wants to fit in and have people like her. I'm a bit of a mixture. At least, I think I am. I'm not really a people person either. usually I let people come to me first if they want to be friends. But, if I'm really interested in someone, I'd probably introduce myself to them first. I can say that when I was younger and had a crush on a boy or whatever, I'd act similarly to Tomoko when she wants a boy to notice her. I'd try my hardest to get them to at least talk to me, without actually approaching them. It was weird. Tomoko's also a pervert who loves video games, so there's more similarities lol
