I felt awful about Jake's death, and Ian having to live with the reality that he's mainly responsible for Jake's death. I felt even worse because I was able to sleep perfectly fine that night.
I've been so hardened by everything we've been through that I haven't been affected by any of this that has happened so far, and I don't think I will be.
I finally got out of bed, showered, put my clothes on, and brushed my teeth. I walked downstairs to see everyone sitting at the kitchen table in silence.
"Why can't we just escape? We can run away and hide, we can help fight them from the outside." Brooke asked everyone.
"You guys don't get it. It's not as simple as that, we can't just leave everyone, that'd be awful. Not to mention they heavily patrol the makeshift wall they erected, and we'd probably die fighting them once we reach the military." Becca explained.
Ian, Brooke, Alicia, and Janet just don't understand what the six of us have been through, we know what we're doing. It's not like the movies.
"Why can't we just this, why can't we just that, why can't we just stop saying why can't we, because we never actually end up going through with any of these why can't we ideas. It's useless, start being realistic." Jared said angrily to the four of them before getting up and storming upstairs.
"I miss the old Jared." Amanda said sadly.
"Me too. It makes me sad to see how depressed he is now, he would've been so good to Kelly. He really cared about her." I said as I sat down next to Henry.
I noticed Alicia move her hand on top of Matt's, and suddenly I was overcome by a wave of jealousy. I didn't have a good feeling about Alicia when I first met her, and now I definitely don't.
I shouldn't feel jealous though, Matt and I broke up last year and it was my idea to. Constantly being with him is making me remember all the things about Matt that made him the best boyfriend ever.
I remember how everyone in our middle school always teased us that we were in love since we were friends and people don't think guys and girls can be friends, Kelly and Justin experienced this too. Little did I know all the jokes were right.
That's ironic, everyone thought Matt and I were in love, and we actually were and we're still alive, whereas everyone though Kelly and Justin were in love, and they weren't and are now dead. Life works in mysterious ways.
"Sandy, do you think Mom is worried?" Janet asked me from across the table.
I didn't even want to imagine what our Mom was thinking right now, she's probably more worried about Janet, since she randomly ran away. I think she's worried about me too, just not as much. My Mom knows I can handle myself in these situations, I've proved that to her. Janet on the other hand, has never been in a situation like this.
Suddenly, the front door was busted in and a dozen terrorists stormed the house with guns.
We all stopped what we were doing and sat at the table with our hands up.
Marco walked into the house.
"The little one." He said before three terrorists lowered their weapons and picked up Janet.
Janet started screaming and crying as they began walking away with her.
"Put her down!" I yelled as I got up to run after her, but two other terrorists held me back.
"No! Let her go! Why are you taking her?!" I yelled as panic overtook my body.
"All will be explained in front of the town." Marco said before leaving the house after all of the terrorists and closing the door.
I started running towards the door, but Matt restrained me in a hug.
"Sandy, think about what you're about to do. You're gonna get yourself killed, and I can't lose you, too. I'm not losing all three of my only friends growing up." Matt said as I fell to the ground, hyperventilating.
"She's having a panic attack, get her a paper bag from the kitchen." Alicia said to Amanda who ran into the kitchen only to return with a paper bag a moment later.

"Will everyone please come outside!" I heard Marco announce on a megaphone.
"Now we can go." Henry said helping me up off the floor.
We were one of the first ones outside, and we walked over to the town hall where Marco, Janet, and a few other terrorists were standing on the steps of the town hall.
Matt, Amanda, Jared, Henry, Becca, Alicia, Ian, Brooke, and I were all standing in the front row of the crowd.
I could see tears streaming down Janet's face, and my heart was rapidly beating out of my chest.
"Hello everyone. The reason for this sudden meeting will soon be revealed. It has been brought to my attention that Sandy Thompson has been causing trouble within this community. She has tried to free one of the corrupt, going against our strict rules. In the past, Sandy has also killed our previous leader, Gupta, causing a large disturbance in our organization. These actions will not go without consequences." Marco said as a terrorist forced Janet onto her knees.
My heart began beating faster as people in the crowd started whispering amongst themselves.
"Sandy Thompson doesn't deserve death, that would be too generous of us to give her. Instead, she will have to live with the fact that her actions have resulted in the death of her beloved sister, Janet Thompson. Sandy, let it be known that this was your doing, your disturbances and actions killed your sister. Not me." Marco said as he took out a revolver.
Tears started blurring my vision and rolling down my face as Marco lifted the revolver near the side of Janet's head.
"No!" I screamed as I tried to run up the stairs, but two terrorists came and restricted me.
When Becca started kicking and punching one of the terrorists, he turned around and smacked her, sending her to the ground.
That didn't stop her from charging at him, and soon enough more terrorists to restrain her and everyone else, who were also fighting back.
"Sandy!" Janet shrieked.
Then Marco pulled the trigger, and I stopped squirming as I watched Janet's limp body collapse to the ground.
"No! No! No!" I sobbed on the ground.
The terrorists let go of me thinking I was done, but I got up and ran through the crowd and then off into the woods.
