Chapter 6: the memory

Everyone were in their separate rooms and peter was staring at ceiling, he couldn't really get to sleep, but he figured no one could tonight after the long day they had. Peter closed his eyes but his ears picked up a mild sound, for once in his life he sensed sadness and not danger, the sound was hard to make out, but it seemed someone was crying. He opened his eyes and was certain it was Vienna in the next room. Peter got up and crept down the hallway to Vienna's room where she was crying. He opened the door, still in his pyjamas
"Vi, you okay?" Peter asked softly
"Peter? Now is not the time, I'm a mess...What are you doing here?" Vienna said whilst she got a tissue
"I heard you...you Okay?" Peter said walking into the room and sitting next to Vienna
"I don't know, I-I guess I'm just too overwhelmed, I don't-" there where still tears in her eyes
"Hey Hey, it's alright, I don't blame you, it's been a long day, especially for you" peter said wiping her tears
"I'm just afraid that-that-"
"Mr stark and Rogers will neglect you" peter finished
"Yep" she sighed getting another tissue
"I'm gonna be honest with you vi, I don't know how they'll react, the last time I saw both mr stark and Rogers together, it wasn't a great day, but I know for sure that you won't be alone" peter said
"How come?" Vienna asked
"Cause me and Carina are here of course, siblings remember?" Peter smiled
"Oh yeah, I remember" Vienna smiled
"Everything will be fine, I promise" peter reassured her, Vienna still had some tears in her eyes "Hey come here"
Peter gave Vienna a hug, she hugged him back, she didn't remember the last time she had a warm hug that felt so safe. Vienna's few tears ran onto peters shoulders.
"Hey peter" Vienna said still hugging
"Yeah" peter replied
"Why the hell have you got that shirt on" she smiled, and peter laughed
"Hey, come on now, everyone loves cows on a tightrope" peter smiled "You okay now?"
"Yeah, never better, thank you" Vienna said gratefully
"No problem, I'm always here for those free hugs" peter winked and went back to his room, he felt lighter as he knew that he now had very close friends
Vienna got back into bed, she closed her eyes knowing that she was safe and she drifted off to sleep. Suddenly she was wide awake, she was in a completely different place and somehow she was shorter, very short in fact, Vienna's conscious couldn't control what she was doing. She turned around in the room and saw Tony Stark
"Hey vi, where are going?" Tony smiled
"Somewhere away from you, so you'll have to chase me" Vienna giggled and ran away from him. She felt the adrenaline of running as Tony ran after her, and suddenly she felt a grasp at her waist
"That's enough from you now you ball of mischief" Tony smiled as he carried Vienna to her room
"Come on now sweetheart, you need some rest" Tony said softly
"Fine" Vienna smiled and she got into bed. Tony tucked her in and kissed her forehead, but suddenly the doorbell rang
"That's my call sweetheart, get some sleep okay, love you" Tony smiled and tickled her a little
"Love you more dad" Vienna said smiling and Tony turned off the light as he walked out. Vienna didn't go to sleep and her eyes stayed wide awake listening to what was going on outside her room.
Tony opened the door to a shield agent
"Mr stark, we need you to tell us whether you've found her some parents" the woman said, Tony immediately turned his back towards her
"Oh give me a break, do you not understand that I can't leave her" Tony said frustrated but before the woman could reply nick fury walked into the house
"Of course I do stark, but we need to speed things up if we're gonna keep her alive" Fury responded "you've postponed this operation long enough we need to-"
"Look, I can't, I-i just can't, are you sure there's no way, no way at all?" Tony asked desperately
"I'm sorry Tony" Fury replied and Tony sighed
"She means so much to me, it's hard enough not telling pepper about this.." Tony said with mild tears in his eyes
"She's capable of so much, I don't want anyone to ignore that"
"I don't think anyone will Tony" Fury sighed
"This thing in me" Tony pointed at his arc reactor "the real part of my heart is in her, this was such a bad idea" Tony said sitting down digging his face in his hands
Fury sat next to him and patted his shoulder "Pepper would've thought you made the right decision Tony, there will be a day where you'll see her again"
"I know, but she doesn't deserve it, if only it could be everyday" Tony sighed
Vienna felt her heart racing after having a wave of fear, she didn't want to be taken away, she was happy with Tony. She felt another wave of shock, this time it wasn't her emotions. She had to wake up and she could mildly hear some voices.
"Thank god, she's breathing" a voice said and she could hear the slight sound of a cardiac monitor's beeps.
