It's now 7am, the next day after all of that happened ^Mello's POV:
It's around 7:00AM. I overall got no sleep last night and my head is pounding in pain. I was so angry last night, everything happened so fast. I don't want to see Matt's damn face ever again, or Near's, or anyone at Wammy's...
I have no idea where the hell Matt went, and I don't care either. I look at my hand, covered in dried up blood. I had passed out on the floor before Matt had left, last night, covering my face with my hands. I walk over to a round mirror hanging on the wall and look into it, only to see some blood had gotten onto my face. I stare into the mirror, why the hell did this have to happen? Just as I'm standing there, I hear something, or someone, coming through the window... Matt... his checks were pink, his eyes were scratchy, and he looked paler than ever. He didn't look at me, he just stared at the floor. The pack of cigarettes which he had brought up to the roof with him was now empty, and he dropped it to the floor.Matt's POV:
I was on the roof all night; thinking. As I come back into the room, I see Mello looking at himself in the mirror. I can't see his face, but I see he's making a fist, holding in all of his anger, trying not to turn around and end me. What's holding him back? I have no idea at this point why he isn't gong crazy on me.
"...Mello," I say quietly, waiting for a response... we stand there for a minute before he replies.
"Get out," he says. His voice is deep, and menacing. I can't help but to admit I'm intimidated by it, but that's not enough to scare me off.
"Mello, just turn around," I say.
There's no response.
"JUST TURN AROUND," I say, louder.
Mello pauses, and then turns only his head toward me, looking directly into my eyes. I have to look away, his bright blue eyes are so deep I could get lost in them. His stare is so hypnotizing. He finally turns around completely; wiping blood off of his cheek.
"I said get out," he repeats.
I know Mello won't hesitate to punch me, I learned that the hard way, so I just walk out of the room and into the hallway, furious. I run all the way to the cafeteria, ignoring everyone staring at me, I keep running. .. I slam myself into a table by accident and everyone goes silent.
"DAMMIT!" I yell, not considering the fact that there were several people around me.
Well shit, this is embarrassing, but it beats Mello punching me again. I back up, holding my stomach, and I hear some kids laugh."Shut up!" I yell, grinding my teeth.
"Mail Jeevas!" I hear a stern voice say. I turn around, it's Roger, the man who runs Wammy's...
"I-uh," I stumble on my words.
"Go to my office, now," he says.
I look around, everyone is staring at me. Nobody knows about anything that happened last night, and I want to keep it that way. If I don't do what Roger says he's going to suspect something of me... I walk off to his office, saying every curse word I can imagine in my head.
Near's POV:
I am in the cafeteria as Matt walks away, everyone resumes eating. I had been sitting in the corner watching the whole time. I did notice Matt running from in the hallway; why was he running? He couldn't have been running from someone, because we'd see them too...
All I know now if that Matt looked extremely distressed. He looked like he wanted to cry, but that he had to hold it in. The only place he would have run from is his own bedroom, so I get up and slowly make my way toward the hallway, holding my robot toy. As I walk down the hallway I hear a slight banging sound. I follow the noise, and sure enough, it leads to Mello and Matt's room. By now you'd think I completely understand what is going on, as usual, but now I didn't. Should I open the door? I do not know what to expect from Mello when he sees me again. I haven't seen him in 2 days; since, well, he had to stay in my bedroom...
I pushed on the door slightly, and it opened. Mello was sitting in the corner of the room, clutching his long blonde hair tightly against his head, breathing heavily. There were books scattered all over the room. Matt's video games had been thrown against the wall, or that's what I inferred from the dents in the wall and the video games all over the floor... Mello didn't hear me come in, so I walked closer and closer to him, inch by inch, completely undetectable.
I sit beside him. He still doesn't notice me. I gently put my hand onto his back, and he jumps back, eyes wide open at me."WHAT DO YOU WANT?" Yelled Mello.
I looked at him.
He looked at me.
I didn't know what to do, so I handed him one of my robots gently, placing it in his lap.
"...what?" He stuttered.
"Play with me?" I asked, in a monotone voice.
Mello looked at the plastic robot I had placed in his lap. He picked it up slowly and looked at me.
"Near, What do you want..." He asked, still tense.
"Nothing," I said, taking my other robot and pretending to make it fly.
"Leave, then!" he said, becoming stern.
I had done all I could do. I took my robot and left, but I let Mello keep the other one. I went and sat in my room, motionless.
Nobody's POV:
Mello watched Near close the door behind him and then picked up the robot toy again. He looked at it, and then set it down under his bed, so Matt wouldn't know Near had been in their room. For all Matt knew, Mello hated Near, and the things that happened a few nights ago were just Mello acting on impulse. Mello never wanted Matt to mention Near again; only bad memories would reoccur. Matt had gotten in trouble, but not as much as he expected. Surprisingly, all Roger did was talk to Matt for a few minutes, and then told him to go to his room for a while to cool off. As Matt opened the door he saw Mello sitting there...
"Mello..." Matt said, not knowing what to expect from him...
