As soon as Kurt saw it, he dialed Blaine's number, not caring if the boy was in class, which he probably was. He just couldn't hold in his rage. How could Elliot just do this to him? After he gave him a chance to join the band. This was his band, not Elliot's, and he might just need to be the one to tell him just that. The phone rang three times before the boy answered.
"Hey," Blaine said brightly. "You know that I'm in class right? It's Mr. Schue, so he let me since it's the last five minutes of class."
"Sorry, I'm just upset," Kurt said, frowning.
"Oh, no. That's never good. What happened?" He sounded so concerned, and that was why he loved Blaine so much.
"Elliot happened," he snapped, pacing his room. "I swear he's out to take control of my band. I knew it from the beginning and I told everyone, but no one wanted to listen."
"What is he doing that has lead you to this conclusion?" he asked softly.
"Well, just everything. He's trying to become the leader, and everyone knows that it's me who tells everyone what to do. He's going around telling everyone that he has a band. It's not his."
"Have you heard him say that?"
"Well not in person, but that's not the point," he said, trying to get back on point. "What's the point is that I know he's talented, of course he is. I'm not going to lie because his voice is almost as good as mine, and if he is trying to take over my band, he might just succeed."
"He's not as talented as you, and Rachel and Santana are two of your best friends, he won't get them to join a band where he is the leader. They support you and that's that."
"But what if he just pulls out all together and does a solo career? I don't think that I could sit back and watch him push us to the side like we are nothing. It would be another NSYNC verses Justin."
"He won't because from what you have told me, he really enjoys the band. I don't think you have to worry about that."
Kurt heard a bell and assumed that Blaine was let out of class. "Even if he doesn't, he's still trying to push me down to just backup while he steals all the light. I can see it in his eyes."
"I don't know, Kurt," Blaine said, not sounding very convinced. "Don't you think you might be over-reacting?"
"If anything, I'm under-reacting," Kurt answered back, trying to get his fiancé to understand what was happening. "Starchild is trying to take over the band; the soul of Pamela Lansbury is hanging in the balance." He walked over to pick up his iPad to read the article he found. "It all started when Elliot scored an interview in the Village Voice, and he said, 'I feel so alive right now. Nothing means more to me than my band.'"
"That's a great, isn't it?"
"He's calling it his band, Blaine." He didn't understand why Blaine wasn't understanding his dilemma. Elliot was evil. "Okay, and not five minutes ago I get a text from him that says, 'Oh my god, I just wrote a new song that we have, in all caps, GOT to do.' I mean he's a psychopath!"
"Kurt, I gotta go, but look-If you're concerned about Elliot don't let on, even for a second. Remember the old adage – keep you friends close and your enemies closer. I love you."
The boy hung up before Kurt could say anything more, and he figured it was because he had to get to class, which was okay. He gave him a good pan on what to do, and he was going to think about how to keep Elliot close. He walked out and found Rachel and Santana sitting at the kitchen table.
"All right, ladies," he announced, "remember we got band rehearsal tonight!"
"Kurt, I'm sorry" Rachel said, getting up. "I just, I can't."
