Kurt was so excited that he was about to burst. He had just received word that he was accepted to perform at the big ribbon cutting for the theater. Now all he had to do was find Blaine and share the good news. This was it. This was his in to showbiz. He had to make sure everything went perfect, and to do that he had to have his fiancé's help. June Dolloway only wanted the best and that's what she'd get.
He finally made it out of the school where he had texted Blaine to meet him right out front. He was happy after he looked both way and saw his cutie waiting to his right, busy fishing around in his bag.
"Did you hear?" he asked brightly, making the boy look up. "The whole campus is abuzz."
"It's a drama school," Blaine said as they began to walk. "The students get abuzz when the snake machine runs out of gummy worms."
"No, June Dolloway is coming," he told him, almost unable to control his excitement. "They're renaming the dance studio after her. And a select few students have been picked to perform at the ribbon cutting."
They stopped in front of the bookstore, Kurt turning to face Blaine as he spoke. "I'm sorry. I'm not familiar with all of the old Broadway stars that we're supposed to worship. Who is that?"
"June Dolloway!" Kurt was shocked that Blaine hadn't heard about her at all. "She's not an actress. She's like the coolest socialite in the world. She's the widow of Lester Dolloway, the mineral baron. Her picture has been taken by Helmut Newton. She took peyote with Joe Kennedy, allegedly."
"Impressive."
"And she's pretty much the patron behind every artistic endeavor in Manhattan."
"Well we've gotta make sure you are picked as one of the performers," Blaine said, suddenly seeing why this was so important. Kurt was already one step ahead though.
"I already was!"
"Oh my god, Kurt," he said with a smile. "That's amazing. I'm so happy for you!"
"Yeah, I really want to do 'Story of My Life' by One Direction." Kurt had just found a love for the boy band after listening to them play at the diner whenever they didn't have a live performer, plus the one with the hair was pretty good looking if he did say so himself.
"That's a good song, but it's sung by five different people. How are you going to sing all those different layers as just one person?"
"We, you'll be singing with me!" he announced, and Blaine looked surprised and uncertain. "Come on, we're a team. We're getting married. If something exciting happens to one of us, it happens to the other one, too."
"I love you. Thank you." He moved to hug Kurt, and the older boy hugged him back before they pulled back. "It'll be fun. Let's go rehearse."
They hurried down the sidewalk together. Kurt was almost skipping. This was his chance to get out there, to show that he had what it took to be a star, and having Blaine perform with him was going to help calm his nerves. Blaine always brought out the best in him, pushed him to hit every note perfectly. It was going to be amazing.
"You just want to sing Harry Styles' part because you have the hot's for him," Blaine teased as he perched on the edge of Kurt's bed. They had been sorting out what parts each of them were going to sing, running through it doing different parts until Kurt demanded that he start it out. Blaine was fine with it, but watching Kurt blush was just so enticing.
Kurt turned to glare, hands resting on his narrow hips. "I do not. I just think that June will notice me if I start it out. Don't you?"
"I'm just joking, although you do think he's cute. It's okay. You can admit it."
