Boyfriends:
Christmas time was something that Kurt didn't really enjoy much of. It may be because he had always been alone during the holidays. It was just him and his dad for his whole life. His dad didn't know how to get a present either, so the gifts weren't something that Kurt ever looked forward to. Spending some quality time with his dad was nice though.
The previous year, Kurt had been at Dalton up until the couple days before Christmas. It was different because it wasn't just him and his dad anymore. Kurt had a family. He had Finn and Carole to spend time with. The presents were better, and their traditions were something that Kurt was looking forward to for this year.
This year was going to be very different, mostly because Kurt wasn't alone anymore. He had Blaine to spend time with. School got out, and they had two whole weeks without that to get in the way of their time. Kurt was so excited he could hardly contain himself that was until Blaine laid the news on Kurt.
"What do you mean?" Kurt asked through the phone, completely in shock. "I just-Blaine you can't be serious."
"Hey, I know," Blaine's calm voice spoke. "There's nothing I can do, Kurt. They just came home and told me the news. What do you want me to do?"
"Tell them no! I want you to spend Christmas with me, Blaine Anderson. Do you know how excited I was for these two weeks together? I can't believe they are just going to ruin it."
"My parents are stubborn, you know that. They are also untraditional. Going on a cruise for the holidays is something that they want to do instead of staying in snowy Ohio. They already got me a ticket, I have to go with."
Kurt sat back and felt his eyes start stinging with tears. His life was so unfair. He didn't get anything he wanted. "How long is it again?"
"I leave tomorrow morning and we are flying out to Florida. The cruise leaves in three days and gets back January 4th."
"That's the Friday before school starts," Kurt said looking at his calendar. "I can't believe this. I'm so upset right now."
"You know if there was anything I could do to stay, I would. I feel so horrible because I know how much you wanted me there with you, Kurt. I love you, and I'm so very sorry."
How could he be mad at the boy when he said things like that? He sighed and stood up. "Can I at least see you before you go? Will you come over for dinner?"
Blaine sucked in a breath, and Kurt knew something was wrong. "I would, I promise, but my mom is taking me and my dad out to get some things for the cruise. I so want to see you before I leave, but I'm not sure my mom will let me."
Now Kurt was a little pissed. "Excuse me for wanting to see my boyfriend before he left for two weeks." He paused. "You know what? I'll see you when you get back, Blaine. Have a good cruise."
Hanging up made Kurt regret it immediately. He ran a hand through his hair and tossed his phone on the bed. So much for Christmas this year. He sulked the rest of the night, trying to call hiss boyfriend, but the boy wouldn't answer. He spent the night feeling guilty.
In the morning, Kurt awoke to his phone ringing. He hazily reached over and unplugged it. "'ello?"
"Hey, you," Blaine cheerful voice spoke through the phone. Kurt immediately perked up, leaning up. "I'm sorry about missing your calls last night. My mom and dad took me out to dinner."
Kurt blinked the sleep from his eyes. "No, I'm so very sorry about how I acted yesterday. I was just annoyed and upset. You didn't deserve that."
"I totally understand. I know how you feel. I'm pretty pissed that I'm not going to see you for two weeks. We haven't been apart for more than a couple days."
