Part 9

Mara's P.O.V

"Woah, Colby I don't know what to say" I replied, my face covered in shock.

"Say yes. It took me almost loosing you to realise that life is short and I shouldn't waste time when I know I've found the one" He came and sat on the chair next to the bed and took my hands into his.

"Colbs, come on. We don't have to be engaged or married to be happy. You're not going to lose me, I'm right here and I will always be right here. But, we're both so young and we have so much time ahead of us to do things like marriage, so what's the rush"? I replied.

"So you're saying no?" He pulled his hands away from mine and stood out of the chair.

"Don't be like that. I love you, I really honestly do. But we have only just started being together properly for the first time, why can't we just enjoy that? This isn't what you want Colby and you know that. You're doing this because you're scared and confused, I get that. Please don't be mad or upset. I know that you don't truly want this, not right now anyway" I pleaded.

"I get it. Its okay. I'm gonna go take a walk" He stormed out of the room, trying to cover his emotions up but I knew him, and I knew that something a lot bigger and a lot worse than my decline in his proposal was bothering him.

"Colby? Please come back?" I shouted, hoping he would hear me and turn around, but he didn't.

I turned and laid on my back, it being too painful to lay on my side.

A felt a single tear fall down my cheek, and after that, I just began crying violently, my hand covering my mouse and nose hoping not to make too much noise and alert the doctors and nurses that something was wrong.

I closed my eyes for a split second, hoping it would calm me down and stop the tears, but I must've fallen asleep as the next thing I know I was being woken up by Sam, Elton and Corey's return.

I immediately sat up to see Corey holding there PlayStation and Elton holding the video games, just before I was about to say something, I noticed Sam had my McDonalds bag in his hands.

"Gimme!" I demanded, putting both my hands out.

He walked over too me, but before passing me the bag he took a handful of fries.

I punched him lightly on the arm.

"Okay well first of all, that freaking hurt. And second of all, what was that for?" He asked, rubbing his arm.

"You don't mess with a girls food Sam. Especially when she hasn't eaten anything but hospital food in 2 days. God, boys are so stupid" I replied, snatching the bag out of his hand and immediately began eating.

"Urm guys, what is that doing here"? I asked, noticing Corey trying to connect the PlayStation to the hospital TV.

"Well we gathered that we'd be spending two days here with you that we'd need something to keep us all satisfied, and well, not bored" Elton answered.

"You guys honestly don't have to stay here just because I do. Plus, where would you sleep, there's one bed" I laughed.

"We realised that with Colby going away to Miami for a week to film some exploration video with Brennan that you could use the company. Plus, we are already one step ahead of you. We brought blankets and pillows. We're all set"

My stomach dropped.

Colby never mentioned that he was leaving.

He swore that he would stay here with me.

"Wait, where has Colby gone"? I asked, hoping I'd misheard.

"To Miami with Brennan. Wait, did he not tell you?" Sam asked, all of the boys stopping in there tracks to look at me.
