"he hit her." jae eun muttered between sobs, now dragging jimin to the second floor of the house.

he dashed into one of the rooms only to find jae eun's mother, areum, with her hands on her head, seemingly trying to stop the blood from flowing profusely out of the deep gash on her forehead. jimin rushed to her side and knelt down, yelping when he felt the shards of glass that covered every inch of the floor pierce his knees.

she was losing consciousness.

"call the ambulance jae eun- CALL THE BLOODY AMBULANCE!!" he shouted, making her jump as his booming voice echoed throughout the silent house.

"im fine- jae eun, take care of mi eun for me okay?" areum whispered as she smiled gently, the creases of her mouth lifting ever so slightly. her voice was shaky, as if she was trying to hold back a river of tears.

"no, no- aunty you need to stay awake. they need you," jimin said, his voice cracking with grief.

grief, because she was gone.

after she breathed her final breath and muttered her final words, her fingers that were once on her forehead, her hands that were fighting to keep herself from losing too much blood, that were fighting to keep herself alive, they seemed to be tired. they seemed to lose hope. and in that moment; as her hand slid off her face, it left a trail of blood. areum had left her kids- her world behind.

"im sorry," jimin murmered softly, tucking a strand of jae eun's hair behind her ear as mi eun cried softly into his shoulder.

as they sat in silence, grieving over areum, slow, desolate tears ran from jae eun's unblinking eyes and dripped steadily into her shirt.

"what do i do now, jimin?" she finally muttered, breaking the silence.

"WHAT DO I DO?" she screamed, her shoulders shaking with fear and terror and sorrow, tears streaming down her already wet cheeks.

he didnt know.
