Part One - Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Match

Cristiano took a deep breath as he took to the pitch with his team-mates, he hoped that he was doing the right thing in giving Jesse what he wanted.

He had dealt with Irina who had been horrified that he hand been the least bit interested in her and had worked out that she was behind all of this.

Cristiano glared at Sergio Ballesteros, who seemed a little over confident about the match; he had managed to get a lot out of Irina when he had confronted her and she was quick to give him the information that he wanted in exchange for the police not being called.

The Russian was quick to tell him that the captain of the opposing team was involved in the plot, she told him that Sergio had been thrilled at the idea of bring Cristiano down to his knees.

Kissing Irina had made Cristiano realise just how lucky he was to have Nicole, he regretted that the model had been hurt when he rejected her but he loved Nicole and nothing could change that; he wasn’t interested in her in that way anymore.

After telling Irina this, she proceeded to scream at him before he had threatened to call the police which made her opened up about the plot against him and Nicole.

She had been behind Nicole’s kidnap and was working with Jesse to split them up so that they could get their respective partners back.

While his teammates seemed to notice that he wasn’t himself, none of them questioned him passing it off as nerves for the match; he had been out of it during the warm up and he hadn’t listened to Mourinho during the team talk.

Cristiano couldn’t help but wonder what Nicole was doing now, he hoped she wasn’t hurt but with Jesse’s past he couldn’t help but think she had been and that worried him even more.

Nicole frowned and crossed her arms as she watched Cristiano take to the football pitch with his team; she didn’t know what it was but Jesse seemed slightly smug about the match and had allowed her to watch it with him.

The brunette winced slightly as she touched the cut on her head, it had only just started to heal itself over after Jesse had attacked her after she had announced that she was pregnant with Cristiano’s child.

The American grinned as he wrapped his arm around his ex-girlfriend and drew her closer; he ignored the fact that she flinched when he had touched her.

Nicole frowned as she watched the beginning of the match, she could see that something was wrong with Cristiano and the brunette knew how much Cristiano loved to play but something about the way he was playing was off.

Jesse chuckled and looked at Nicole as he thought about how well things were going for him, he hadn’t heard from Irina and he guessed that she had been successful in her plan to win the footballer back.

“Somebody may have told him that if he was to lose the match for his team he may get you back,” he said making Nicole pale at his words, she felt sick at the idea that she was being used to blackmail her boyfriend; she glared at the screen wishing that there was something she could do.

Jesse laughed and squeezed her shoulder making Nicole wince at the amount of pressure that he applied to it; she hoped that Cristiano wasn’t going to do anything stupid for her.

“But don’t worry you aren’t going anywhere,” Jesse said smugly as Nicole sat quietly watching in horror as Cristiano didn’t make any attempts on the ball.

Sérgio Pinto frowned as his national team captain approached him, he tilted his head wondering what Cristiano wanted when they weren’t on national duty; the younger footballer looked at him questioningly before Cristiano went on to explain what was going on.
