Love Will Find A Way

Part One - Chapter Fifteen: The Ex-Boyfriend

“What the hell are you doing here?” Alexis hissed at him as she stepped forward to protect her best friend, she remembered all the pain and hurt that he had caused Nicole and she didn’t want that to happen again.

Nicole took a deep breath and closed her eyes as she attempted to keep herself calm, she could already see clearly in her mind what had happened a year ago and it made her stomach lurch at what he was capable of.

Jessica linked her arm with Nicole’s in an attempt to comfort her friend, she glanced at her boyfriend who was quickly restraining Alexis from lashing out at Jesse; she couldn’t believe that he had come back like this.

“I came to visit Nicole,” Jesse said simply while Caroline rubbed Nicole’s back trying to calm the brunette who had started to turn white; she knew that it wouldn’t be long before security acted since it was clear that Jesse didn’t have clearance to be there.

“You shouldn’t be here,” one of the security guards said placing a heavy hand on Jesse, who nodded a smirk on his face; he looked at Nicole knowing that he had done what he had come to do.

The brunette knew that she belonged to him and she always would, he wasn’t going to leave her alone just because some footballer took her fancy; in fact he didn’t care as long as she remembered that her body was his.

“I’ll be going then… it was good to see you again Nicole,” Jesse said though there was a threat to his words; that everyone knew was there, it meant that he was back for good before allowing security to lead him away;

As soon as Jesse was gone, Alexis glanced at Nicole who was shaking, she sighed wishing that she had better protected her friend against him; she hated that someone had been able to do that to Nicole.

“Someone might want to sit her down… she’s going to pass out,” Alexis said as Nicole started to sway slightly, she couldn’t believe that Jesse thought he could come back like that just to scare her friend.

Caroline nodded and quickly moved Nicole into the players’ lounge and sat her down on one of the couches, while Sara disappeared to go and tell Cristiano and Sergio about what had happened.

The reporter knew that they’d want to be there for Nicole; she didn’t know what it was with the man that had shown up but she knew it couldn’t be good.

“Who was that?” Caroline asked as she helped put Nicole’s head between her legs to help her calm down and William started to pace the room in fury; everyone seemed to be looking at Nicole as if expecting her to break or something.

“Jesse Hudson, he used to be Nicole’s boyfriend,” Jessica said simply as she took a seat next to Nicole and rubbed her back, she looked at her boyfriend hoping that he wouldn’t do anything stupid.

“What the hell happened?” Sergio hissed as he slammed open the players’ lounge doors as he stormed in followed by Cristiano and a couple of his other concerned team-mates; he ignored the way Nicole flinched at the loud noise as he glared at those in the room.

The forward looked at his girlfriend concerned as he hurried over to her side and pulled her into his arms; he quickly started to whisper soothing words to her as she clung to him as if he was going to leave her.

Cristiano thanked Caroline softly as she gave him her seat, she glared at Jessica who sat by Nicole’s side; she didn’t know why the other woman was trying to calm the brunette down especially since Nicole wasn’t meant to get stressed out or upset like this.

“Jesse was here,” Alexis said making Sergio tense up and the other Madrid players who had just arrived looked at him in concerned; the Sevillian started to turn a bright shade of red before he proceeded to swear making the others look at him confused.

Cristiano wrapped his arms around Nicole’s shoulders as he waited for someone to explain what was going on; if Sergio was reacting like this then it had to be something big and he didn’t want anything upsetting his girlfriend of four months.

“No offense but I’ve never seen someone react to one of their ex’s that way,” said one of the WAGs making Cristiano furrow his brow as he looked down at Nicole; she moved closer to his body as she tried to calm herself down before she made herself sick.

Sergio glared at the woman that had spoken, he didn’t care who she was dating or married to; she had never had to see Nicole suffer because of what Jesse had done.

William gritted his teeth to keep quiet knowing it wasn’t his story to tell but Alexis wasn’t having it; she rounded on the woman that had spoken, she glared at her knowing that no one could truly understand until they knew the truth.

“Then you’ve obviously never met anyone whose boyfriend put them in hospital and nearly killed them,” Alexis spat furiously, she felt a little proud at all the shocked and horrified faces as they realised just why Nicole had freaked out at seeing Jesse again.

Sergio looked at the dark haired woman, he was a little annoyed with how she had told everyone what had happened especially since Nicole was still in the room being comforted by Cristiano; but he couldn’t blame her for wanting to shut anyone up who didn’t understand.

“Where is he?” Cristiano asked wanting to meet the man who had harmed Nicole, he wanted to give him a piece of his mind; he ignored all of the concerned looks from his friends as he looked down at Nicole.

Cristiano smiled softly as Nicole cuddled into his side, the brunette curled closer to him as she closed her eyes content for a moment; he had insisted on sticking with her after what had happened at the stadium and he was glad that he had.

“I love you,” the footballer said as he drew her closer, he pressed a kiss to the top of her head and closed his eyes.

He had no intentions of ever letting her go and he wasn’t going to ask her about what had happened between her and her ex-boyfriend since he already planned to ask Sergio about it so he didn’t upset her.

“I love you too,” Nicole whispered as she started to settle down, she smiled softly to herself as she felt Cristiano’s fingers slip under her top and trail up then down her back in a comforting manner.

She knew he didn’t sleep well after playing a match because of the adrenaline in his system.

The Portuguese rested his head against Nicole’s as he allowed his thought to move to what had happened after the match; his stomach clenched at the thought of something happening to his girlfriend.

“I’d never let anything happen to you Nicki,” Cristiano said as he opened his brown eyes, her breath ticked his neck making him smile softly at the sign that she was sound asleep; he knew that sometimes she found it difficult to sleep because of her chemo.

Nicole slept peacefully as Cristiano thought about what he would do if he ever met Jesse, he didn’t want that man anywhere near his girlfriend and he doubted that he would ever feel this protective of anyone else but Nicole.

“I think I would die for you… I love you more than anything,” Cristiano said as he looked down at the brunette, he knew that she wasn’t awake and he felt a little glad about that; he felt strangely vulnerable and he didn’t like it.
