BLOOD BATH 2

The sun was shining.  Blake and Broderick were sitting on the grass holding hands, their intertwined fingers bathing in the sun's rays.

~

A colossal New York gala at an elaborate mansion.  The attendees gazed upon both Blake and Broderick with lust and awe.

~

Two glasses of wine full of blood clinked together by the glow of the candle's flame.

~

The forest was beautiful at night as Blake and Broderick took to flight against the radiantly full moon.

~

Plumes of snow billowed upward as Blake and Broderick playfully frolicked in the snowdrift and pelting each other with snowballs at night.

~

The Christmas tree was lit and the presents tucked underneath it.  Blake and Broderick held each other close.

~

Eyes full of demonic hate filled the darkness.  A blurred face full of pain faded into the blackness.  Billows of blood poured forth from a unusually opened wound.  Bloodied fangs gleamed maniacally through a blood-ringed mouth, rivulets of the ichor falling like a miniature waterfall from the lips.

-------

Blake shot upward through the surface of the blood bath, gasping for air, knocking Broderick backwards.  Blake coughed, losing his footing but fighting to keep his balance.

Broderick firmly gripped him from behind, attempting to keep his baby calm.  "I got you, Blake.  I got you."

Blake trembled violently, clinging to Broderick's strong arms.  "Oh my God."

"I saw it, too," Broderick confirmed with a kiss to Blake's cheek.

"Those images..." Blake managed, swallowing for breath.  "They're dark.  I keep seeing them."

Danny, their trusted servant but also friend and fellow vampire, entered the pool area with vampiric speed.

"What happened?" he inquired, kneeling near the couple by poolside.  "I felt pain and fear.  You guys alright?"  His young features were stamped with deep concern.

"We'll be okay, Danny."  Broderick assisted Blake out of the pool.  Danny held him as he trembled.

"Blake."  Danny looked helplessly over at Broderick who lifted himself out of the pool and padded over to where the towels were kept.  He returned with one and wrapped it around Blake.

"Take him to the living room and get a fire going," Broderick instructed, giving Danny a kiss.  "I'll be a few minutes."

Danny nodded obediently to his maker and escorted the distraught Blake out of the pool area.

Broderick watched them as they left, crossing his arms and lightly tugging at his bottom lip in thought.  He wondered whether the witches who harbored their souls into Blake when he fought the now-deceased Nesdal corrupted his psyche.  They had been powerful enchantresses, possibly too powerful being that poor Blake's mental well-being was presently corrupted and he was needlessly suffering emotionally because of them.  Had they perhaps placed a hidden curse on his beloved Blake's life?  Blake had always been the strong one in their relationship but this sudden display of weakness, anxiety, fear, pain and uncertainty was definitely not of his character.

Broderick made his decision.  He was going to visit those hags and delve into the reason as to why Blake suffered so.

-------

Blake sat comfortably in the recliner near the hearth, his eyes closed, relishing in the warmth and glow of the fire.  He nestled himself tightly in the thick blanket Danny supplied him and was fast approaching slumber.

Broderick stole alongside him, placing his thumb against Blake's forehead and drawing a line down in between his eyebrows, causing him to fall into a deep sleep.  Exposing the neck, Broderick bent down and bit into the throbbing vein, taking in his fill of the information he desired as to the sorceress' whereabouts.
