chapter 11: The secret place

I opened the door to my music class and a old woman greeted me "Hello my name is Mrs. Wilson," She had a thick American accent and two small eyes hidden by round glasses. Her silver hair flowed past her shoulders and she wore a light purple jumper with some black leggings. For a granny she had style.

I sat at a piano, I've played piano before but that was 2 years ago back in Brighton but that was when I was obsessed with an anime game called Doki Doki literature club. There was a girl that had the same name as me and played the piano, I had a slight obsession. I stared at the black and white keys just thinking about what happened, that has become a new thing that I sometimes do. "Monika?" Eric walked up to me "are you okay?" he asked looking at how I positioned my fringe in front of my bruise. He brushed my hair behind my ear revealing the purple bruise on my forehead, Eric gasped, "how did this happen to you, you didn't have that before and your eyes are all puffy," I looked at the floor hanging my head "I walked into a wall." Eric stared but gave up on trying to get the reason out of me and the lesson started. We went through different pieces of sheet music and how music can be expressed through feelings before I knew it the lesson was over and next was maths, the lesson of dread.

Miss pars did her usual introduction and the register, Flynn came in late like he was dreading to be here to be honest I was feeling the same way, I didn't want to see that blonde bimbo ever again but my story has been written and you cant stop fate or so they say. He sits down and opened his mouth to say something but closed it almost instantly, Flynn brushed my hair behind my ear showing off my bruise he stared in shock "s...sorry," he whispered in my ear calmly "My mind has a body of itself and just needs to hit things Y'know?" I looked at him "If you really were then you would promise to never hurt anyone again but knowing you that's impossible," I scoffed while he smirked "Then you need to stop your mouth saying stupid things," I just ignored him and finished the last question. I leaned back on my chair looking around the room, nothing new though a few new posters about square numbers. "If I kept my mouth shut then how can I protect the people you bully," I asked "I don't know but I know one way to keep it shut," Flynn spoke in a deep sexy voice placing his finger and thumb on my chin, I chuckled nervously he might be an ass but he's hot, "By getting the royalty of redguard to chop off my head with a sharp nail file, oh no!" I said pushing him away. 

Lunch rolled around and I got out my croissant from this morning and wondered around the school. Since the school was built out of an old castle there was loads of places to discover. The lunch hall was the main hall and it behind it was a door leading to the upper floor, students weren't aloud to go there actually no one was allowed there that's why it was always empty. I opened the old wooden door and rechecked the perimeter before heading in. The stone floors weren't rotting and pictures hung from the walls, up the stairs was a room with dark curtains and an old box filled with dresses and frocks. I was fine exploring until I heard a piano echoing through the halls, I followed the sound every note was a different step. The sound lead up to a set of stone stairs without thinking I climbed up the slippery steps until I reached the door, it was cracked open a bit, I was about to walk in until a familiar sounding tune started playing. It was your reality from Doki Doki.

I sung along quietly until a small black and white cat ran up to me purring on my lap. I stroked Mona's soft fur as he got comfortable on my lap before I knew it Mona was asleep on my lap. I picked him up in my arms and carried on humming along to the piano with Mona rolling around in my arms. "Was that good Mona?" Akira asked "Mona? Where did you go?!" He started to panic and tripped over his bag falling onto a pile of feathers and papers. I leaped up placing Mona on the floor. "Akira? Are you alright?" I asked peering through the door, his glasses had fallen off and feathers flew everywhere, a few pieces of sheet music fell on his face and he looked so helpless I almost had a nosebleed. I held my arm out to help him up his hands were bony and soft probably from playing tons of piano, he was surprisingly light weight and very clumsy. "Monika how long where you there for?" Akira asked placing his glasses on his face again "Ever since you started playing your reality on piano," I chuckled while he blushed "so do you know it?" he questioned. I nodded "Every note and word kinda." his face lit up and sat back down on the seat and started playing the intro "oh I'm not much of a singer trust me this is for the better if I don't," I was flustered but his puppy dog eyes broke me. "Fine!" 

"and in your reality if I don't know how to love you. I'll leave you be,"  I hit the last note perfectly while Akira finishes the song and looks at me with a grin "are you sure you aren't the real Monika?" I laugh at his joke and pick Mona up to stop him clawing at my leg for attention "there's the little troublemaker," Akira is such a smiley person but very shy as well but he looks a lot older for his age but he definitely acts like it.

"C'mon lets get outta here," Akira beckoned to Mona to get back into the bag and closed the piano carefully trying not to damage any of the keys. We walked down the stone stairs gripping tightly on the banister so we didn't fall "Akira?" I asked "can I ask you something?" Akira nodded "You don't haft to answer this but why was Flynn hitting you in the first place?"  he sighed "Well, me and Flynn have been rivals since year 7. we both sighed up for the drama club and auditioned for the play to get the lead, Flynn got the part while I got the second lead. The year after I got the lead while flynn got my understudy he was crazy jelous instead of being satisfied for his place. It was around september when he changed, he was more like Heather not himself like he was always trying to make a good impression on someone that he knew. He bacame voilent and more stressed like somthing was knawing at him. Today I asked him why he changed, he said that he hasn't and was just stressed. I told him well if that's the case then he would't mind me going for the lead. He screamed at me and told me that his soulmate is the role and no one else was gonna get it, Heather came running at us and she laughed not helping may I say. Then you came,my saivour. Have I thanked you for that?" 'soulmate he cant be talking about me can he! oh no!'  I nodded "You are not the only one who thinks that Eric his best friend even admits he's changed," I sighed did me coming here really make someone change their personality?

Before I knew it, we were outside again. I said bye too Akira telling him that I'd see him at the audition and he flashed his smile again. I turned the corner to see Eric and Flynn standing there with annoyed painted all over their faces. "Where have you been?" asked flynn "You weren't in form or the lunch hall we got worried!" Eric shouted definatly more annoyed than flynn "Why do you care I have a life that dosen't need attention from both of you!" I tried to push past them but they grabbed my hair and jumper which caused me to scream a little in pain. "you are not going anywhere until you tell us what you were doing in the castle, so better speak up!" they said in unision "Or what?" I ask folding my arms flynn sneered which made me back up. "why do you want to know?" Eric frowns "Because we don't want you getting hurt Monika. Why can't you see we are doing what's right?" I trembled "Well I was..." I ran away as fast as I could not looking back. 

I was in the form room panting and breathless. Veronica came up to me "Where did you go?" she asks leading me to a chair "If I tell you promise you won't tell anyone not even Eric?" she nods and I start. 

"So I ran away as fast as I could," i finished "Monika that's horrible but now you've got another guy to deal with Akira Tanaka an unpopular guy with an incredible music talent!" we laughed until two guys showed up at the door.  Veronica ran out of the room while I ran to the corner  behind the door but Flynn saw me "YOU B****H!" he screamed grabbing my jumper and throwing me onto the hard carpet floor surprisingly Eric did nothing in fact he even helped by screaming at me telling me to tell them what I was doing. I stayed silent. "MONIKA TELL US NOW!" Screamed Eric and Flynn "Why do you want to know?" I ask wiping tears that fell from my eyes "STOP IT WITH THAT CRAP!" shouted Flynn. He picked up a chair, looked me straight in my eye and hit me repeatedly until I broke "FINE I'LL TELL YOU!" I screamed wanting it to stop, Flynn threw the chair at me "go ahead then," Eric said lifting me up my hands behind my back "Well I went exploring and I," I paused coughing up some blood, Eric hand shook "I saw Akira then we spent some time talking to each other and playing the old piano. That's what happened the total truth!" I screamed. They both snapped out of there craze and sat down "I...I," Flynn was shaking hugging his knees while Eric sat down next to me "Monika, I am so sorry I just," He was choking on his words while pulling me in.  "Monika?" I passed out.
