Caged bird - Myles Cameron.

Katie.

I walked up to my best friend's door step after walking around town, trying to find my way. Luckily they hadn't taken my too far. They rain had soaked my hair and clothes but I rang the doorbell and hoped for a reply.

The door slowly swung open and Eliza's faces dropped when she saw me.

"Katie?!"  She screamed. "How are you even here right now?" Her eyes bulged out of her head, as I expected her reaction would be.

"I'll explain but can we please go inside." The rain was still hitting me even though I was under shelter. I'd put the leather jacket on on my way over here.

She nodded like a mad woman and yanked me in by my wrist.

"It's so good to see you again!" Eliza's mum, Kerry held me in her embrace for longer than needed and wanted.

When she finally let me go her smile faded, "May I ask you something sweetie?" She asked and I nodded. "Not that we don't want you here but why did you not go to your own house?"

Oh crap, quick lie time.

"After everything that happened, I'm just not ready to see my Mum and Noah yet." The real reason is that my mother let me get kidnapped for whatever messed up reason she has and Noah is a psychotic.

"Okay well you two go get some sleep, we'll talk in the morning." She smiled again.

"Thank you so much Mrs Lewis." I matched her smile and me and Eliza made our way to her room.

"Katie?" Eliza asked awkwardly.

I turned on my other side to face her, "Yeah?" I replied.

We were both in our pyjamas and laying in her bed. She hadn't asked me what happened while I was there. She was either worried to or she was trying to be respectable.

"It's been so horrible without you." Her face fell.

"I'm sorry Eliza." I didn't know why I was sorry, it just felt like the right thing to say.

"Don't be, it's not your fault." She explained which made me half smile. "Ugh, look at me, moaning about what I went through. I can't even imagine what you went through. What happened Katie?" She looked so sad.

I explained to her about when I was taken and how my mum did nothing. "That's why I can't go back to that house. I just don't think I can look my Mum in the eyes after that." I admitted.

"That's... that's understandable." She nodded and we both drifted off to sleep.

The next morning I woke up to an empty bed. I pulled off the covers and changed into something more suitable before making my way downstairs.

I walked into Eliza's kitchen and caught her and Benjamin kissing up against the counter. They'd been dating for a few years now and I had to admit that they were cute together. Eliza caught me eye and gently caught Ben backwards. He span around and cleared his through when he saw me. "Oh.. Good to see you again Katie." I chuckled and walked over to them.

"Yeah, what a nice greeting." I rolled my eyes but laughed when they looked really awkward. "No, no. It's good to see you too man."

"Cane should be here in a minute, he cried on the phone when I told him you were back." Eliza explained and I smiled.
