Evie and Mal stood by Mal's locker as they admired the spray paint that Mal had just completed. An outline of Mal's mother Maleficent and the words "Long Live Evil", the teens own personal motto from back when they were kids on the isle. Mal returned the spray paint can to her locker as they heard loud obnoxious laughs coming from down the hall. Audrey, Chad and Ben emerged and stopped laughing immediately as they saw the two villain kids, Mal and Evie ignored them. Chad tapped Ben on the chest and then pointed to the two girls.
"Those kids are trouble!" He said as Audrey looked at him in agreement.
"Bye Mal" Evie said as she grabbed a few books from her bag and carried them off. Mal went back to her locker looking through her books especially her spell book. Ever since she had set foot in Auradon, the magic in her blood had come alive. Mal didn't know how to use all of her magic yet but she could still feel it. Ben looked over to Mal and back to Chad and his girlfriend "C'mon Chad? Give them a chance?" He said. Audrey giggled slightly as she pushed her sunglasses up over her forehead and let them rest on her hair.
"No offence benny bear, but you're just too trusting" Audrey said as she took Bens hands. Ben laughed softly at the gesture as she continued "I know your mom fell in love with the big nasty beast...who just so happened to be a prince..." she said as she smiled and then just as quickly as it had appeared on her face, it was gone and her face turned to Mal with a mixed look of anger and disgust "...but with my mom, the evil fairy was just the evil fairy. Her mother".
Ben looked at her with kind eyes. Then he looked at Chad the same way before saying "I think you're wrong about them, see you later" he said lightly punching Chads arm as he left. Ben walked over to Mal, she closed her locker with a thud and then a click.
"Hey" Ben said leaning on the locker next to hers.
"Hey" Mal replied with a confused look on her face. She copied him and leaned on her locker with her book gripped tightly into her torso.
"How was you're first day?" He asked genuinely. Mal pouted and pretended she was thinking about her day. Mal then replied with "super!" sarcastically.
Ben looked at Mal's locker and her guard went up, it was probably illegal to deface property in Auradon. Mal watched his eyes as they followed each letter written and then as he looked at the outline of her mother's horns and cape.
"You should really think about taking this off the wall and into art class" Ben said. Mal wasn't expecting that. She wasn't expecting such a kind approach to vandalism. She was silent looking at him. "I could sign you up if you'd like? What do you think?". Before she could answer she noticed a small light blue shape walk by her, Jane. She followed Jane with her eyes and then turned back to Ben who was looking at her in the eyes. Something that no one had done since she'd got here.
"Way to take all the fun out of it" she replied sarcastically. Ben smiled, a rotten and happy smile wanting to continue the conversation with her. Mal simply just crinkled her face, turned and walked away leaving Ben wandering after her with his eyes. After she had turned the corner following Jane, he traced his eyes over her art work as the stood so his back as on the lockers and took a breath and lightly banged his head against them.Mal followed Jane all the way into the girls bathroom. She was standing in front of the mirror fixing the hairband in her short brown hair that matched her shoes and her outfit. When she noticed Mal walking in her eyes grew and traced her as she walked in.
Mal stopped about a foot away from her and Jane turned towards her. "Hi" Mal said.
"It's Jane right? Uh I always loved that name, Jane" she continued as she faked a laugh. Jane nodded before saying "that's cool" in no more than a whisper. Jane then grabbed her bag and began to walk out before Mal interjected putting her hand up as she yelled "don't go!" Mal could almost feel sparks on from her fingers as she felt the magic erupt inside her again. All she would have to do is focus and the purple flame would ignite on her fingertips but she didn't. Jane was completely still though, Mal took a second to think if she had accidentally frozen the poor girl without even realising it. Until she turned her head and looked at Mal's hand. Mal put it down and changed tactics, she made a sad innocent face and she shrugged "I guess I was just kinda hoping I'd make a friend?" Making a sad smile. Jane was silent still but she had relaxed from her once still position. "I guess you already have all the friends you need though, huh?" Mal finished.
"Hardly" said Jane with the same sadness in her voice.
"Really?" Mal replied with fake sympathy. "I mean with your mom being Fairy Godmother and headmistress?" Mal continued as she began to step closer to Jane who in turn stepped back until she eventually backed into the sink and had no where else to go.
"Especially with your own...um.." Mal said as she looked the girl in-front of her from head to toe looking for something to compliment. On finding nothing she simply said "..personality!".
"I'd rather be pretty though" Jane spoke with a sudden eagerness "you've got great hair" she said as she looked at Mal's thick purple hair that fell down over her shoulders. Mal touched her own hair as she looked at Jane, a plane stirring in her mind.
"You know what? I think I have the exact thing for that!" Mal said with a quiet confidence as she proud out her mothers spell book and looked through the pages for the spell. Jane looked at the book as Mal did this. She looked uneasy, but Mal couldn't tell if that was her face or the expression she was wearing.
"Ah!" Mal said causing Jane to jump a little "found it". Jane half smiled and Mal followed the spell closely with her finger as she spoke the words "Beware, Foreswear, replace the old with brand new hair" Mal smiled as small sparks flew from her hands and watched while Janes dark brown straight bob shaped hair grew and curled as it fell past her shoulders and down her back. It was even longer than Mal's when the spell was finished. Jane turned to look into the mirror as Mal joined her standing next to the girl. "Wow" Mal said proudly, mostly about herself as she continued "you almost don't..notice your...other features anymore!".
Jane looked at herself in the mirror before turning back to Mal, looking down at her book and began poking at the cover incessantly "Do my nose!" She yelped excitedly.
"Oh I can't?" Mal said almost melancholy. The smile faded from Janes face as she spoke the words looking for an explanation.
"I've been practicing..but I can't do...really..big magic" Mal said with silent sarcasm as her hand gestured towards Janes face. "Not like your Mom! With her wand?" Mal gleamed with an emerging smile on her face. Jane looked at her still with sad blatant expression.
"I mean one swoosh from that thing and you could probably have whatever features you wanted" Mal looked at Jane with a kind expression on her face.
Janes sad face grew more sorrow "she doesn't use the wand anymore, she believes the real magic is in the books and not spell books regular books with history and stuff" she replied looking down at Mal's spell book for a moment. Male face tensed. She tried keeping a keen smile on her face but she could feel her jaw tighten as she began to grow more frustrated. She glanced at Jane again who was still looking down at her spell book.
"You know she used magic on Cinderella? Who wasn't even her real daughter..doesn't she...love you?" The word was a stranger in Mal's mouth. Jane looked anxious as she took a breath to explain to Mal: "Of course she does but you know tough love.." Janes voice trailed off as she looked to the side and a small frown grew on her mouth. Mal caught sight of it and jumped immediately.
"That's the face!" Mal shouted pointing to Janes mouth as she said it. Jane looked confused. "Yeah and then just look as if your heart is about to break" Mal continued gesturing to her chest which caused Jane to grow even more confused. Mal knew Jane had no idea what emotional manipulation was and put a finger in front of Janes face as if to say watch this. Mal mimicked the face Jane had just a moment ago as she began to speak "Oh mother, I just don't understand why you can't make me beautiful too?" Mal said as her face turned back to Jane with a huge smile. Like Mal has just performed an epic Shakespeare play in perfection and was waiting for an applause.
"You think that could work?" Jane said innocently. "Yeah" Mal replied as she placed the book on the counter under the mirror and jumped up to sit next to it "I mean that's what old cindy did and your mom bippidy boppiditied the living daylight out of her" Both the girls laughed at the small joke.
"And you know.." Mal began crossing her legs and picking up the book and sitting it on her overlapping leg "if your mom does decide to break out the old wand...invite me!". Jane smiled excitedly again.
"If I can convince mom you're so there". Mal clapped her hands gentle and silently with a small whisper of "yayyy" on her lips. Jane picked up her bag as she waved bye to Mal. Mal winked at her and watched her leave the bathroom.Chemistry class, and Evie sat across from the dumbly beautiful Prince Chad Charming. Doug sat next to her because he was her tutor for most of her classes. She looked on at Chad who was looking at thin air.
"Is he, by any chance in line for a throne...anywhere in line?" She ask Doug quietly while gazing at his beauty.
"Chad, Prince Charming Jnr. Cinderellas son?" Doug replied to her. Evie's head shot up to meet his face, the word that caught her ears was "Prince".
"Chad inherited the charm but not so much the "there there" if you know what I mean" Chad said but Evie was hardly listening and Doug rolled his eyes.
"Evie!" The teacher said behind Chad and it snapped her out of her gaze on Chad.
"Perhaps this is just review for you... so tell me, what is the average atomic weight of silver?" He asked in-petulantly. She was taken aback, she had no clue of what the answer was but she was daughter of the Evil Queen, she wouldn't be beaten by a good guy. Evie looked around for a moment realising all the eyes were on her, including chads as she thought of a response.
"Atomic weight?" She said as the teacher nodded and she continued to speak "I mean not very much it's an Atom right?". This answer made a few people laugh at the joke. Chad laughed as-well which made her feel better about not knowing the Atomic weight of silver. The teacher didn't find it very funny. He pointed to her and wiggled his finger to come up in-front of the class to explain on the board. She looked at Doug who knew there was no way she could the answer but as she was walking up to the board she reached inside her pocket and pull of her magic mirror. Evie placed the mirror on the inside of her sleeve where she could see it and took a piece of chalk from the bottom of the board. The teacher was standing very close to her with his hands folded no doublet waiting for her to be wrong.
"Let's see...how do I find out the average atomic weight of silver?..." she said to the teacher rather loudly. She then took a glance down to her sleeve and then looked at the teacher face and then to the board.
"That would be one zero six point..." she continued to write every single digit present int he atomic weight of silver.
"Which, Sir would give us" she looked at his reddening face as he looked on to the class who were sniggering at him now. Evie saw this. "...One zero seven point nine Amu" she finished her answer confidently. She then turned to the teacher who looked embarrassingly at the floor. Evie has her hands at her side waiting for a response from him.
"I forget, always a mistake to underestimate a..." before he could finish he was cut off by a hair flick by Evie a small inch away from his face before she quickly finished the sentence for him
"A villain? Don't make it again!" she said confident as she flung the chalk back to him and strode back to her seat, she and Chad stared at each other as they passed. Chad slyly gave her a small note from in between his fingers and transferred it to her hand as the glanced one more time before she sat down.
