Liam and I had been texting each other every day for the past week. We’ve been meaning to meet up but he has been a bit busy with his band and all. To be honest I’m kind of glad and sad that we haven’t seen each other again. I still haven’t thought of a way to tell him I’m pregnant, I’m scared he will just leave me alone like Joel. I was deep in thought thinking about scenarios when my phone buzzed on the bed next to me. I looked down and picked up the phone. I smiled when I saw Liam’s name and got even more excited when I saw the message.

Hey, I’m on a break want to get some lunch together?’

I instantly sent back a message saying yes and started to get ready. As I left the house, the thought of my being pregnant pushed to the back of my mind. I got into my car and meet Liam at a little cafe near his apartment. I parked my car and walked in looking for Liam. He was waiting at a little two seater table looking out a side window with his head turned away from me. I snuck up behind him and blew softly on his neck. He jumped and turned around wiping his neck. When he realised it was me he got up and gave me a hug. I sat back down as a waitress came over to take our orders.

“So how have you been?” I asked as the waitress walked off with our orders.

“Yeah been great, busy in the studio but at least I’m out the house, you?” Liam answered

“Yeah good, I’ve been looking for a house”

“Oh cool where have you been looking?”

“Just around this area, this is the area I know best”

Liam and I kept chatting and eventually our orders came over to the table. We started eating right away as we were both starving. Once we had finished we still talked. I’m surprised we still have stuff to talk about.

“Want to go back to my place for some coffee?” Liam asked

“Um sure, let’s go”

We left some money on the table, although I had to sneak mine on as Liam was insistent on not letting me pay, and walked out to the carpark.

“Here I’ll take my car and follow you” I suggested to Liam since I had no idea where he lived.

“Sure” He said as we got into our cars.

We started up and drove away.

After a short drive we pulled up to a house that kind of looked a bit like an apartment. It was white on the outside with a lawn and a stone path lined with lights leading up to the door. We pulled into Liam’s driveway and I got out. I followed Liam up to the door and after he unlocked it, he let me in. The door opened to a huge lounge room with a HUGE ‘L’ shaped couch and a flat screen mounted on the wall. The walls were painted a cream colour with a red metallic feature wall and had stained timber floorboards. I followed Liam down the hallway to the kitchen and sat on a stool that was placed next to the island bench. Liam walked over to the opposite side of the kitchen and turned on the kettle. We made casual conversation while Liam pottered around the kitchen getting the mugs, coffee, milk and sugar out and placing them on the island bench in front of me. He got a spoon and opened the coffee container to scoop some into the mugs but the smell of raw coffee made my stomach churn. Panicking, I tried to hold it back but I couldn’t stop it. I covered my mouth with my hand and ran down the hall to find the bathroom. I found the toilet, slammed the door with my foot and threw up the contents of my stomach. I sat on the floor trying to compose myself when I heard a soft knock on the door.

“Kyla....are you alright?” I heard Liam’s caring voice ask me.

I couldn’t hold it back anymore. I started crying. I knew why I was throwing up I just didn’t want Liam to find out this way.

“Kyla, unlock the door please”

I really wanted to but I didn’t want to get up. I heard Liam walk away but he came back a minute later. I heard the door handle rattle a bit before the lock clicked. The door opened and I looked up to see Liam standing there holding a butter knife.

“You couldn’t expect me to not know how to unlock the doors in my house did you?” Liam questioned me trying to lighten up the situation. He knelt down beside my hysterical self and rubbed my knees and back. He quietly talked to me and his smooth voice calmed me down enough for me to look at him. I was thinking of things I could tell him as to why I threw up but I looked in to his eyes and I knew that I couldn’t lie to him. I had to tell him. He must have sensed I wanted to tell him something because he looked at me confused and also he asked me what was wrong again. I took a deep breath and sighed.

“Liam, I’m sorry”

“What are you sorry for? Kyla what is going on?”

“That day you found me in the park and I told you I had just been dumped. Well I never told you why I was dumped.”

He looked at me worried and his expression pleaded for me to continue.

“Joel broke up with me because I......I”

“Because why?”

I sighed again. Just do it Kyla don’t be a baby.

“I’m pregnant”

I finished the sentence and looked at Liam just waiting for him to say something.

*Liam’s POV*

I didn’t know what to say. Who could just leave the mother of their child? Alone? That’s just fucking low. I looked at Kyla who was about to start crying again.

“Kyla, hey everything is going to be alright,” I said sitting down next to her and pulling her into a hug.  “I’m not leaving you in this. It’s going to be fine. You are going to be perfectly fine.”

“Liam, I’m so scared. What am I going to do?”

“You are going to get through this. I’m going to help, just like my friends and just like Nikki”

“Well I still have to meet the boys before they help me though” She joked

“Yeah, aha”

We sat down on the floor for a few minutes before I stood up.

“As much as I love sitting on the toilet floor, I have a coffee to drink and work to get back to” I said reaching my hand out and pulling Kyla up. I pulled her into the lounge room and sat her on the couch. I went back into the kitchen, re-boiled the kettle and finally made the coffees.  I grabbed both mugs and placed them on the little table in the lounge room. I walked back into the kitchen and grabbed the box of Salada crackers. I sat down on the couch next to Kyla and offered her the box.

“These are supposed to help with the sickness I think”

She took the box from me and smiled. God she has such a beautiful smile, the ways her eyes shone while she did smile just made me feel.....happy.
