Chapter 4- Dinner

*Kyla’s POV*

We reached the restaurant after a long (and I mean long) game of I Spy with Louis. He was picking the tiniest thing ever like the floor mat or the fire hydrant we passed five minutes ago. I looked out the window as I saw a valet approach Liam’s car. This restaurant was fancy...and I mean it! It had a big gold and glass double door, with twinkling fairy lights and a red carpet leading inside. I looked through the bay windows and saw tables lined with white cloths and could see the gleam and sparkle of every piece of cutlery and plate sitting atop. I glanced at Liam and Louis wide eyed and my mouth open. I jumped a little when I felt my car door open but relaxed when I saw a man with his hand extended. I took it and helped myself out of the car. He shut the door and led me around the side to where Liam and Louis were waiting for me. I could not even begin to hide the smile or astonishment on my face. It was simply......extraordinary.

“I knew you’d like this place,” Liam smiled amusingly, as he took my hand in his. “Let’s go and meet the rest of the boys now, shall we?”

I nodded and we walked inside, Louis trailing closely behind us. I kept following Liam as I did not know where the boys where but he seemed to have found them as we approached a long rectangular table where a girl and two boys were sitting. Louis smiled widely when the girl turned around.

“El babe, I thought you weren’t coming”

“I wasn’t but then my class was cancelled so I thought I would come and surprise you” The girl named El said giving Louis a hug. She caught a glimpse of me and quickly pulled away.

“I don’t believe we have met before. My name is Eleanor. I’m Louis’ girlfriend. She introduced herself as the two other boys stood up to greet us.

“I’m Kyla I’m a friend of Liam’s”

“Hi Kyla, I’m Harry” the curly haired one introduced himself shaking my hand.

“And I’m Niall. Please take a seat” The Irish one said walking over to and empty chair and pulling it out for me.

“Aren’t you just a gentleman? Thank you” I thanked him graciously sitting down in the empty seat next to Harry. Liam sat beside me as Louis sat next to El who was sat next to Niall.

We all started to chat for five minutes before another pair arrived at the table. I got up and introduced myself.

“Hi I’m Kyla”

“Ah so you are the famous Kyla, hi I’m Zayn and this is my girlfriend Perrie” He said shaking my hand and then hinting towards the girl standing next to him who also shook my hand.

We all sat down and had a lovely chat with each other and ordered our first course. Man this baby was getting a treat tonight but I couldn’t believe how expensive this place was. I ordered the cheapest entree trying to keep my bill low. Wait a minute, do these people know about the baby? I don’t think they would, they would have mentioned it already wouldn’t they? We all ate our entrees and main courses and were waiting for our desserts when Zayn spoke up.

“So Kyla we have heard many things about you, but why don’t you tell us about yourself?”

“What would you like to know?”

“The usual for now”

“Alright then um..... My name is Kyla Young. I’m 19 turning twenty in a month. I live with my best friend Nikita, born in Romford and moved here when I was 2 with my mum and lived here ever since. I have no family here but I do in Australia. My favourite colour is Aqua blue and I love music. Anything else?”

“Sounds lovely, um I have a question though um. What happened to your family here?” Zayn asked.

I sighed a little and Liam gave him a bit of a glare but I patted his knee letting him know it was alright

“Well my dad is Australian and he moved here to study and he met my mum and they had me but he left when I was 2. My grandma died when I was 5 and my mum passed away 3 months ago so it’s just me.”

“Oh I’m sorry Kyla, I didn’t mean t-“

“It’s ok, don’t worry about it. What happens, happens”

We all sat in silence for a minute before Louis suggested another game of I spy which we all rejected at the same time but then he continued babbling anyway. We had our desserts given to us and we all started conversations in little pairs. I reached over to Liam and we started talking.

“So this is going well hey?”

“It is, I’m so glad you guys are all getting along well.”

“Hey Liam, they don’t know about this baby do they?”

“No I haven’t told them, I mean I only found out today”

“I know, I know I just wanted to make sure before I blurted anything out”

After twenty minutes, I started feeling tired. Man this baby isn’t even 10 weeks old and it’s a pain in my butt. Plus I really needed to pee and sleep.

“Hey Liam can you take me home? Bubba here is restless and I’m tired.”

“Alright then, let’s go” He said grabbing some money out and standing up. I reached into my clutch to pay for dinner but Liam stopped and glared at me. I put the money back but still saw Liam glaring until I shut my clutch which made him smile in victory. He put the money on the table.

“Alright guys, I’m going to take Kyla home and call it a night. Have a great night. Louis you catching a ride home with El?”

“Yeah mate. See you tomorrow.”

“Bye guys it was nice meeting you all” I waved good bye and everyone chorused back the same thing. We walked out to the Valet who brought Liam’s car around. We talked all the way back to my ‘house’. When I got out of the car, Liam walked with me up to the door and we stood there for a minute.

“So that was a great night” Liam stated.

“Yeah it was.”

“So um Kyla I was wondering, did you maybe want to go on a date with me? Sometime? Soon?” Liam stuttered rubbing the back of his neck.

“I would love too” I hesitated thinking it through before finally answering.

I saw Liam fist pump and shout yes before he realised I was still there and quickly composed himself. I giggled lightly to myself. I reached up and grabbed one cheek with one hand and kissed his other cheek.

“I’ll call you tomorrow ok?”

“Alright Liam, bye”

I waited out by the door until he got into his car. I stood there for a while waiting for him to drive off but instead he opened the door and stood on the foot rail.

“You know, I’m not driving off until you get inside” He shouted cupping his hands around his mouth. I laughed at him.

“Why? I’m home safe already” I shouted back smiling

“Who knows what might happen? Someone could come and tackle you, or someone could kidnap you before you get inside. What if you trip?” He shouted, explaining his reasoning.

“Fine I’m going in” I said throwing my hands up in defeat. I unlocked the door and got inside. I shut it behind me and raced to the front window as I heard Liam’s car door shut. I peered my head through the vertical blinds and waved good bye to him as he did the same and drove off. I walked into the kitchen expecting to find Nikki there but all I found was a note on the fridge.

“Off to Jace’s, see you tomorrow- Nikki xx”

I out the note on the cupboard and had a shower. I settled into bed and began watching friends for the zillionth time, replaying the night over in my head. I couldn’t wait for that date with Liam. Every time I thought about it or him actually, my skin tingled. Was I falling for Liam?
