When the few rays of light landed on my face, I turned over in discomfort. Hah... I should get up. After ten minutes I slowly slid out of bed.

I did my morning stretches, and popped some joints. Feeling relieved, I went to the sink and washed up. Everything was a practiced routine, that could be done while half-asleep.

Ugh... So tired. But not too long ago it was hard to get a peaceful night's rest. Before I was accepted to Pink Star Academy, I crossed the border to Opal Kingdom. With no money or relatives, it was a struggle. For a whole year, I lived poorly, surviving on scraps and magical power.

Once I was old enough to enroll, the school provided a residence and a weekly allowance. Breakfeast and lunch were free, so I only needed to pay for my own dinner.

Going to school has been so fun, and I'm grateful I can enjoy it with little troubles. Though the first few days I was bullied, after Bernald-san protected me, I've gotten to know so many more people.

*Grumble....*

....I should eat breakfast.

I let out a sigh of relief that not many people were here for breakfast. Butlers and maids usually eat at their master's home, but if they're really busy, they can drop by and get a meal or snack.

While I was waiting in line, I noticed some students also lining up for breakfast. Smelling them from here, I could tell they were commoners. N-Not that they smelled bad, but just they carried the scent of the town. Fish, vegetables, and bread were the usual smells normal citizens carried.

Nobles had scents of perfumes, cloth, tea, or sometimes sugar. I often smelled herbs, floral, and sandalwood on Bernald-san, and a lot of soft sugar and chocolate from Brittania-san.

"Here you go, dearie. I put some extra soup in yours."

Chef Fatina handed me my breakfast. I've been good friends with her, occasionally helping her get fresh boxes of produce. She worrys about me a lot, and always gives me extra food.

"Thank you, Fatina-san. I always eat well everyday because of you."

"Aww, thank you Laurence. Make sure you don't skip any meals!"

Carrying my tray across the cafeteria, I seated myself in an empty corner. But soon the seat in front of me becomes un-empty. A slender hand grasped a spoon with complete control. The motion of dipping it in the clear broth was smoother than butter. And finally, placing the spoon to his lips left it glistening.

"Um... Laurence, your soup will get cold if you keep on staring." My face flared up, and I quickly shoved a spoonful of soup in my mouth. Bernald-san is simply too elegant...!

Every morning, I have breakfast with Bernald-san. Sometimes Gus-san joins us as well, but it's mainly only us. After our "date," we've gotten a lot closer! Bernald-san is really smart, and good at teaching. I bring a lot of my homework to him to check.

On days when I don't have anything, I end up accidentally staring at Bernald-san. He's kind and helpful, smart and good-looking, and really perfect all around. But it's his air of elegance and perfection that amazes me. So when he sometimes acts silly, it throws me off guard.

"Laurence, do you have someone you like?"

All my thoughts flew out the window. As well as the soup in my mouth.
