~Karina
I walked into Dawn's office early. I hadn't had my morning drink and I was sleepy as hell. Why do the meetings have to be so early?
I walked over and plopped down in the chair without saying anything. I didn't even have the energy for all that.
"Hello to you too Karina." Dawn said looking at me with a stale face.
"Sup." I said taking a long blink to try and rest my eyes.
"Someone's tired." She smirked.
"I did a long day of community service yesterday to reduce the days I have left." I said not being ablento fight the grogginess in my voice.
"I seen it on youe schedule. 5 AM to 5 PM and then 3 extra hours so you werent finished until 8. I seen you've been doing multi shifts to try and complete your hours earlier a lot lately. I understand you're tired andbyou probably feel like giving up. Don't. I promise you these last 2 weeks, since you've narrowed down your hours so much, is way more worth it than 5 years in prison." She said sincerely.
"Doesn't feel like it." I said dryly. "Feels like hell. Every day I have to get up early and go pick up trash off the street. I don't have any income and can't get income because I spend my days picking up trash. Then I come here early in the fucking morning exhausted with nothing but the little energy I got left in me. Then I go home and sleep and drink away all the pain I have to deal with because I no longer have a damn life." I said becoming angry.
"Well, thats the choice you made when you decided to rob a gas station. Thats the choice you made when you decided to be in a gang. Thats the choice you made when you did all the illegal shit you did knowing that at some point you could get caught and go to jail. So don't come in here everyday with an attitude as if I owe you something because I can clearly tell you I do not. You knew the penalties for the shit you did but did them anyway." She said firmly.
"You don't know shit about me! You don't know what I been through." I sat forward in my seat.
"Everything I need to know is in my files. You're a broken little girl in a grown womans body who likes to do hoodrat shit with her friends. You're not a little kid anymore. Doing petty little crimes isn't cute anymore. Grow the hell up." She growled.
I stood up and picked uo the files throwing them on the floor. "Fuck you and this shit! I'm out!" I fussed and turned to walk away.
Just as I neared the door, she grabbed my hand and the next thing I knew I was against the wall and she was right infront of me.
"I don't want you to go to prison Karina. I care about what happens to you." She said calmly.
"Tsk. What makes you think I'd believe that lie." I said with plenty of attitude.
"Because I'm holding you back from walking out of that door and to your free pass to prison." Her eyes never left mine.
"Fine." I said sighing.
"Have a seat so we can get on with this meeting." She said backing up.
I walked over to the chair I had just been sitting in and sat back down. She sat down behind her desk and began typing on her keyboard and telling me the upcoming things I had left to do. I half listened unable to focus on anything but how turned on I had become. People usually cower to me, but she, she wasn't afraid. She was firm and could care less about what I've done and my past.
"Two more weeks of community service and after that, they are switching our meetings to twice a week at 5:30 on Mondays and Wednsdays. And you'll need to start looking for a job also. You need to have proof that you looked for a job and attempted by the fourth month. We could put you in a halfway house or get you some assistancr until you get on your feet if you want" She said going over things.
"Nah I can get a job." I said only half way believing myself.
"If you say so. Anyways, yeah thats it. So, good luck and you need to sign in on the ipad over there and sign out and then you can go." She said as she turned back to her computer.
I looked at a picture of her hugged up with a brown skinned woman who was gorgeousand had an athletic build. She had a wide grin and her smile was to die for. She was gorgeous.
"Is she your wife?" I asked. I had noticed she had a ring on her finger.
"Nah my fiancee. Soon to be wife." She said smiling while looking at the picture.
"She's very pretty." I said standing up and walking over to the ipad to sign in and sign out.
"Mhm. So what about you? Met anyone?" She asked.
"Hell no. I ain't got time to be messing around what with this community service and parole bullshit and all." I said flipping my hair over my shoulder.
"Mhm. Well, I guess I'll see you nect Sunday. Remember what I said." She said looking over to me.
"Yeah yeah yeah." I said with fake attitude as I walked out of the office.
