~Karina
Dawn and I had been staying at the hotel for the past two weeks. Its been okay seeing as we get along and usual just end up fucking. I had been keeping an eye out for Patrick and his men, but he hasn't come about. I'm glad because I'm not ready to deal with him.
"Do you wanna go get something to eat?" Dawn asked.
"Yeah, but we have to get back moving tomorrow. There is no telling when the police will start tracking down that car, and we're probably suspects, so the first place they'll look is here." I told her.
"Alright well go get dressed and we'll head out and on our way around town, we'll look for another hotel, or maybe an apartment." She said.
"Alright." I went to get my clothes out of my bag. "This is my last clean outfit, so I'm thinking we also take a trip to the cleaners." I slipped on some jeans and a t-shirt.
"Wow...all that ass." Dawn damn near drooled.
"Get it togetha girl. We got shit to do." I said grabbing my purse.
We still had the money Patrick had given us, plus a little more we had saved from our jobs. We were on a shopping budget of $100. Until we found somewhere to live where Patrick couldn't find us, we were going to bounce from hotel to hotel or at least until things just blew over and he gave up.
"Maybe we should just go from hotel to hotel for a few more weeks and he'll give up, then we can find a house." Dawn said as we walked to a nearby bus stop we had been using to get from place to place.
"Yeah true, but maybe we should stand up to him. Kill him or something." I mumbled only loud enough for her to hear. There were 3 other people there and I didn't need them hearing shit.
"Maybe, but that would be a huge risk. He has people to help him. We only have us." Dawn said.
"True, but what if we trick him?" I suggested as the bus pulled up.
"But how would we do that?" She asked.
"We'll figure it out." I told her as we got on the bus.
The bus ride into town was a long one. This was a large town and moat of it was just untouched land with a few houses every mile or two. We were deep in the country.
Once we arrived in town, we walked to the laundry mat and started washing out clothes, then I had Dawn to watch the clothes while I went to get snacks at a grocery store. This hotel didn't have a mini fridge, so we couldn't get things that needed to be chilled right away. I got a few apples, some chips, some beef jerky, a few jugs of water, and a few canned veggies. Its not much, but we didn't have enough room to be carrying around a lot of stuff. We would eat most of that today and then by tomorrow, there would be just enough for us to carry around and have for breakfast.
I was walking toward the check out, but what I saw made me stop in my tracks. I didn't know if I was tripping or if this was for real. There stood a woman who looked exactly like Nika and children who looked exactly like Nika's children.
"Nika?" I said allowed. She looked up and her facial expression was a look of shock.
"Karina? Karina!" She smiled and ran to me. I was too shocked to move, so when she hugged me, I just stood there.
Wasn't she dead? I was just at her funeral? Is this for real?
