She Was a Skater Girl
————————-I let myself fall on the bench before untying my skates. I usually like morning practices but this week was different, and not in a good way. There was some kind of water problem in the other rink in town, so we had to share our ice time with other figure skaters and the smelly hockey players from that rink. I had to wake up super early in order to have some decent ice time. That all meant losing more of something as rare as unicorns: sleep.
I winced in pain as I massaged my right foot and hear. An eerie crack was heard from my ankle. Ouch. My friend Nancy rolled her eyes when she heard me. "Such pain", she snickered before taking off her knee brace. Haha so funny, Nancy.
I stood up, grabbed my water bottle and exited the locker room. Nancy, still half-asleep, reluctantly followed me outside. She was kind of passive aggressive. She'd rather stick with me than go to school alone. We made our way past the screaming hockey players and got out of the arena. It was now time to take the bus to hell, aka school.
Once the bus arrived, Nancy and I were finally seated ourselves in one of those weird textured seats in the back. I put my earphones on and began to space out.
I was going to compete at a big event in Japan next week. I usually don't felt nervous about competitions but I had a weird feeling about this one. I just couldn't shake it off. I sipped some of my coffee. Maybe I should spend more time working on that triple lutz triple toe combo ?... Before I could let my mind wander any further, the bus had arrived at destination.
I tugged on my backpack and stood up. Well, only a few more days to go...
