Chapter Nine

"Who was that punk we saw earlier?" I asked.

Kou sighed dramatically.

"Just some annoying leech from my school. He thinks he can get away with anything."

Whoa. Salty.

"Now that I've buy you food, what do I get in return?"

"You get my friendship of course!"
I smiled brightly.

My answer seemed to amuse him.

What did he expected ? For to knit him a scarf or something?

"Anyway, there is a place I wanted to show you~"

"Where? Is it a surprise?"
I was curious, after all, this was the first time I was in Japan.

The city was like some giant neon lighted maze towered by dark clouds that were jealously covering the sun like a fluffy blanket.

"はい［yes］it's a surprise~" he answered.

I was following Kou. He walked really fast and since I was slightly shorter than average (blame figure skating and genetics), it was tiring to keep up to his pace.

"Wait! You are walking too fast, I don't have long legs like you" I whined.

He smirked, I guess my suffering was amusing for him to watch. That's something typical of tall people.

Tall people play basketball and they laugh at you when you climb on the kitchen's counter to reach the high shelf.

"Maybe it'll be faster if I carry you?" He smirked.

"What?!"

"Let me go" I laughed as I was swept off my feet.

I didn't dare to fight back because I was afraid he'd drop me to the ground me if I had done so.

"You are as light as an overweight cat" he remarked.

"Uh, thanks I guess" I laughed.

"Anyway, we are here" he put me down.

In front of us stood a castle?

"It's the high school where I study" , explained Kou.

I knew there were some pretty nice schools in Japan but this one was damn big. I could see apple trees and cherry trees from the other side of the fence. Did I forgot to mention the massive and intimidating looking metallic fence? Yes, I did.

"I wanted to show you this place" he looked me in the eyes.

Why would he want to do that? We've only knew each other for a couple of days. Even if it felt like longer...

"Why?" I stared into his icy blue eyes.

"Because-"

Before he could explain any further I heard the sound of an expensive camera taking shots.

We turned around and we saw some guy with a black face mask and sunglasses. He was hiding behind a bush that was conveniently in front of us.

"くど 「shit」", mumbled Kou.

He tried to went after the guy but as soon as the camera guy realized he had been spotted, he started running towards a scooter. Without even putting a helmet on, he left at the speed of light.

"We have to get back, now"

Kou was right, we wouldn't want another misunderstanding screwing everything again. Let's hope this shady paparazzi won't blackmail us!

"Uhh, okay" 

Suddenly, heavy rain started to fall from the grey clouds that had been covering the sun.

I wasn't dressed for a rainstorm. I used my vest to cover my head.

I probably look like a turtle.

My ballet sweater under was kind of transparent-ich but at least I wore a black sport bra under.

"We have to get to a dry place or you'll get sick" worried Kou.

"What about you, you never get sick?" I skeptically asked.

"No, I don't"

He looked dead serious. I heard thunder roaring and I restrained myself from shrieking in surprise.

I usually like storms but preferably from a dry point of view, aka inside my house.

"Let's hide from the storm inside the school!"
Kou took my wrist and started to drag me towards the metallic gate.

Why do I have a bad feeling about this?
