A few days after Eve's little 'stunt', things seemed to die down. The press stopped covering the story and what it could mean. Eve would do this a lot, wait a while after doing something so the press could get all riled up with theories as to when the next display would be.Tom's campaign was doing amazingly. Statistics were proving this, he had the most support compared to Jude, his rival. There was a ball of sorts being held at one of the most expensive hotels in the city that weekend, and Tom was obviously invited. There was just one problem.
"Oh come on Walker, we need to meet her eventually" one of his close friends Cole mocked. Tom's friends had been nagging on and on about this topic for what felt like years now. "How many times do I have to tell you? I don't know yet" Tom snapped back, rather aggressively.
Cole laughed, along with Tom's other friend Fin. This annoyed Tom so much, they way they'd mock him. "Dude, bring her or I'm refusing to believe she even exists, you have an imaginary girlfriend" Fin said cockily. Tom knew exactly what Fin meant by this. If Tom didn't prove Eve was actually real, Fin would have a field day spreading shit to the tabloids. Then Jude would obviously find out and it'd cause a massive disadvantage on Toms behalf.
There was no real way around it. Eve had to come to the ball with him. It may have been selfish of him, but he knew she'd go.
THAT NIGHT
Tom arrived home from work at his usual time, the apartment was filled with an amazing smell. Mexican food, Eve was cooking for him. Fuck, he was lucky. He snuck into the kitchen and surprised her by wrapping his arms around her waist and hugging her from behind.
She jumped slightly, it was adorable to him. "Oh hello there Mr Walker" she said with a giggle. "Good evening Mrs Walker" he said cheekily in reply, something he'd called her since they'd got together. He knew how much she loved it.They spoke for a while then eventually had to sit down at the table to eat, that's when he brought it up.
"Babe, I have something important to ask you" he started with. Eve payed attention closely, to her this could range from him leaving her to him proposing. "Go on" she said with a nod, before taking another mouthful of her burrito. "I've already told you how there's that Ball event coming up soon, and my friends keep asking me if you're going to come. I keep trying to hold them off, but they're being extremely insistent, to the point of them threatening me with things that could potentially ruin my campaign. I'm sorry, this is so selfish of me to ask, but can you come with me?" He said, almost nervously.
Eve took a moment to think, Tom could tell. After finishing her last mouthful of food, she replied. "It's not selfish, I know just how much this campaign means to you. It could be kinda risky in a way, but I'll go with you"
Tom felt a weight being lifted off his shoulders. As Eve stood and went to collect their plates from the table, he stood and passionately kissed her. She blushed slightly at this, then gathered up their plates and returned to the kitchen. He sat back down.
She was right, this was a risky move. He told himself not to worry though, people wouldn't know who she really is. He turned over his shoulder to look at his girlfriend placing the plates into the sink, her back turned to him.
'You never know, maybe having someone that attractive with you could boost your votes' he mentally told himself. This caused him to chuckle, it was all going to be okay.
